Got a rock chip on my driver door -_-
It's honestly not that bad but it's still a rock chip. It's about the size of a tic-tac and it's a deep scratch because I can feel the scratch with my finger. Should I use touchup paint?
I have a 2010 CBP Acura TSX. How much are the touchup pens? Will I need a primer before applying?

Everyday I'm rofling
No matter what you do, you arent going to get it back to the factory look. I had a chip in my door also a few months ago. I bought primer, sanded it down , painted, sanded, painted again, sanded with finer grit, then painted again. It didnt quite match colors still, i read that the clear coat was going supposed to make the color look richer. So i clear coated and it ended up looking like a film was on my door where the coat met the rest of the door. I read multiple articles about how to spray/sand it so it all blended right. It ended up being about a basketball size clear coat on my door. It looked like complete shit. It was embarrassing. This is not a task you want to undertake. Just use the pen, youll still be able to somewhat see where the nick is. I wish I did this in the beginning instead of spending 6 hours and $350 to get my whole door repainted by a professional.

call your closest dealers parts department, and place an order. depending on your color, they may have it in stock. i know for my Vortex Blue, i had to wait like a week or two, and had to pay up front. you may be able to order online from somewhere though
and it was like 15 bucks i think for the pen, and it holds like an ounce? i can take a pic of the one in my car for ya if you want

In the door? That's a wild place to get a chip. You expect them on front.
Get the touch-up tube. With white, not your case, you get two tubes. One for the color and one for the PWP finish.
Touch it up... take a silk rag, and immediately wipe it off. Then barely touch it again. Nobody will see it unless you point it out.

i actually have ZERO rock chips on the front of my car. i am a very careful highway driver so i dont tailgate (which causes those rockchips, usually).
just bad luck that someone decided to pass me on the side and roll a rock onto my driver door.

it's a car-drive it
hopefully your good luck will continue-As much as I try to be a careful highway driver-my car has lots of rock chips- trying to keep my distance from the car in front usually ends up with another driver pulling in front of me. I have had rocks thrown from trucks two lanes over from me. I travel from NC to NJ and back often. I go on Highway 95 with lots of trucks. If you have not done it get put some kind of protective cover on your foglights. I have rockblocker on mine.

The worst rock chips come from two lane roads. If you're doing 50 and a rock comes off a car from the other direction, that rocks doing 100 mph when it hits you. On the freeway at 70, a rock coming from the car ahead may be going 60 in the same direction of travel only delivering a 10 mph impact.

ya be glad its a rock chip and not a hit and run or random keying/vandalism. its part of owning a car :\ just use some touch up. your dealer has the touchup for sure.

Not trying to be a dick, but its not equal to it going 100mph. I thought this too for a long time, except with head on collisions. Its a common misconception that if you have a head on collision the speeds add together. If you are both going the exact same speed, say 50mph, then the impact is the same as if you were going 50 and hit a wall. Here it is on mythbusters! Its pretty interesting.
Two identical cars going 50 mph head-on is the same as one car going 100mph into a stationary car.
Two cars going 50 mph head-on is also the same as hitting an immovable wall at 50 mph.

Not to be a dick, but be careful drawing conclusions from that Mythbusters episode. It compares 2 identical cars going 50 mph vs one car going 100 into an IMMOVABLE WALL. This is NOT the same as comparing it to one car going 100mph into a stationary car.

It makes for good TV though.

When touching up chips/scratch use a toothpick. The brush in the touch up paint will lay too thick of a layer.
Right now I'm filling in a deep scratch made by me from shoveling snow.
I'm going try to put couple more coats then sand it and compound sand marks out.
