It's a dumb design. Every time I go to a gas station the attendant starts trying to pry my gas door open. Before they tear it off, I always have to tell them to push the right side in like 5 times before they get it right (self-serve is illegal in NJ).

Not sure if the other luxury players do this, but our Infiniti G37 is also of the same design. I always leave fingerprints when I fill up.

Kinda makes you wonder if the people who design these things actually own cars doesn't it? I got a J.D. Power & Associates survey to fill out and I bitched about that. Hopefully Acura will get the message.

(fingerprints) Hrm.... There's no room to put a little Sunglass Hut cloth in a plastic packet? If I had the 2GEN, I'd find some way to have a "wipey cloth" nearby. (Of course, you might not want to do this on a dirty car, leaving scratches.)

although it IS illegal, I still fill that shit up myself (if the attendant doesnt come over right away). I dont wanna sit there and wait for him while I'm fully capable of filling it myself.

it was funny though .... a friend of mine lives near AC and he came to NY for the weekend. Sat at a gas station for 5 minutes waiting for an attendant and just left thinking it was closed ... lol

ill45, there's a TSB on that[1] ... if you're having that problem, "Take it to dealer, do not pass GO, do not collect $200." The TSB is listed in the forum FAQ thread for TSBs.

[1]Gas filler door sticks.

Just did the gas door release fix myself. Took me less than a minute with a pair of sharp pliers.

Hey all,

I'm having a helluva time finding/opening/searching for the FAQ and I did read where you guys just upgraded/updated the site and all.

If someone has the gas door fix thread and/or the cupholder lid fix if there is one?

Also, trying not to hijack the thread or anything, but I also searched for HFL Contact List/Address book transfer because I'm having a helluva time doing that, too.

Everytime my paired Blackberry Pearl is ready to submit to the HFL Address/Contact menu, the Bluethooth link is somehow terminated by the HFL or the phone, I don't know which.

Do you have to have your address book/contact list saved to your SIM card, or is it ok on just the phone? A friend has an 07 TL-S and the same phone and he had no problems. If I do get it to transfer, it only accepts the first contact list contact.

Thanks in advance & sorry if I derailed the thread or asked a redundant question, I *did* try to search.

I must be lucky, so far I have nothing wrong with my car, the only tiny thing is I hear a small squeak (rattle) that seems to be coming way at the back of the cars where the rear speakers are located...It not significant enough right now to have it looked into as its so faint and there has to be no sound at all in the car to hear it....but if it gets worse, I'll get it looked after....

Man! You are lucky lol. My car has had the squeak you talk about (which I just got fixed), as well as the driver's side exterior windshield body molding thing coming off, the sticking gas door, my driver's side heated seat switch was free floating instead of clicking firmly into each position, and my driver's side door is occasionally hard to open (meaning you pull the handle or lever and then when you have it all the way out you have to give it an extra tug to get it to pop / release.) Hopefully nothing else will come up. I'm having to drive around with my window down to hold the exterior windshield molding from flying off, which truly sucks. I had some blue painter's tape on it, but it came loose last night when it started raining. Just waiting on the dealership to get the new part in...sigh.

ShadowTuner....Were they succesful at fixing that rattle? I am always reluctant to have a dealership try and fix a rattle for fear they'll make it worse....What did they do to fix it and do you know what exactly was the cause?

In new jersey and oregon it is illegal to pump your own gas. It was great during the cold wintery months not having to get out of the car to pump gas. NJ gas prices are usually lower than other states. The last time I was in NJ (two weeks ago) they were about 30 cents lower than NC

Eventhough it is illegal to pump your own gas, it is not illegal for someone to get out of their car and open their own gas door is it?

Ha, ha, no it's not. I get out and open it myself at every fill-up, otherwise they'll try to rip open the door despite my instructions to just push it in on the right side.

Hey, when you guys do get the door open, does it hang down on the right side, like opposite of the hinge?

Mine hangs down almost to where it looks like it's going to touch the paint on the right side of the 1/4 panel opening.

It's like the hinge is buh-wanged or something?

It's perfectly aligned when closed.

Yes, they were able to fix it. I'm not exactly sure what the cause was, but I will ask them when I go back in, which will be soon. I have to get that trunk key thing fixed, and apparently when they fixed my messed up driver's side heated seat switch they got my center console out of alignment slightly because now the cup holder catches slightly when you open it...sigh. And on top of that I'm still waiting for the windshield trim piece to come in, I think its been 2 or 3 weeks now that I've been driving around with blue painter's tape holding mine down so it doesn't fly off. My salesman was right, I got the devil car lol.

I was wondering who I had to blow in order to PM or access all sorts of stuff here...good to know.

My post was worded really bad, I didn't mean to type "once you get it opened" I meant "as soon as you touch-latch it open, does it hang down?"

Like on your video, right in between 6 seconds and 7 seconds, as it's still in the closed position but unlatched the right side of the door hangs down.

It looks like yours does it too, but I can't see it clearly. Thanks for the video, I'm a dumbass for that bad wording.

Gas Door Release

I much prefer having the gas door release in the car, next to the trunk release, like it was in my 2005 TSX.
