Driver Side Mirror

I was checking out a 2012 wagon and noticed the driver side mirror has a noticeable distortion on the upper half in the center area surface. It sort of has a "fun house mirror" look to it.

It also does not have the "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" stamped on it. Nor is it blue tinted.

The passenger side has the text at the bottom and with blue tint. It also has a smooth curvature and looks normal.

If anyone could confirm if this is a known issue, thanks.

It's a feature designed to allow the driver to better view the blind spot.

And it doesn't have the "Objects are closer than they appear" warning because they're not.

I have only ever seen the "Objects are closer than they appear" warning on a passenger side mirror...

The mirrors on our cars look like they were made by playskool. It also seems to make a difference in the fun house effect depending on the temperature. They are very distorted and when brining it up to the dealer when I was still under factory new car warranty came back with a yes we see it, but the new cars look the same, so that's the way it is. My 93 Accord didn't have this issue, but it also didn't have heated mirrors either. I still notice it 65,000 miles later.

Yeah, at first I thought it was my prescription glasses causing the distortion. And it does seem worse at different times. Now I understand... it's another one of those "there's nothing wrong with it, they're all like that" things. Like my steering, my brakes, my ignition...

It may be a supplier issue; Honda my have more than one. The mirrors on my 010 are fine (as are the steering, the brakes, the ignition...). And the battery, the seats, the sunroof, the AC, the windshield, the wipers, and basically everything else that many here tend to whine about.

Dude, I thought I was the only one experiencing this Driver-side funhouse-mirror effect! Bought my '12 TSX brand new Oct. 2012 and just two weeks ago noticed the distortion. To me its very distracting as I feel a bit disoriented when looking even for a few seconds. Car has a bit over 23,000 miles on it right now.
So, just deal with it kind of thing?

If it's a problem that effects your ability to use the mirrors, it should corrected. If one Acura dealer won't address it, then try another. Contact Acura customer service if you have to. Pain in the butt? Definitely, but as they say, some days you're the windshield, some days you're the bug....

Spoke to the dealer, they told me to bring it in to have it checked out. I'll probably bring it in on Friday and see what they have to say about it.

More to follow...
