Don't have driver 2 key

I just recently bought a 2010 Acura TSX and I have the driver 1 key, but they did not have driver 2 key. I called the dealer and they said remote key is 229$ and then to program it, its extra 109$. Is there a cheaper way around it or can i buy a key from someone and get it programed?

thanks guys

they are correct.

you will have to buy an un-cut key, get it milled and then get it re-programmed.

expensive as hell.
I wouldnt even worry about a 2nd key....

^still $120 bones is still a lot to drop on something that you barely would use, unless a 2nd person drives your car.

WTF?!

I got both keys AND a valet key when I got my car. For free. They even threw in 2 Acura key chains. Also for free.

I think OP and iCrap bought their cars used.
if the original owner didnt include the keys when they sold the car, its up to the current owner to purchase them

Was it a CPO??? (Certified Pre Owned)
I believe that is the only way Acura will guarantee 2 keys

I got my 2010 about 5 months ago with 2 keys + valet

These are famous last words. And you can be sure when it does happen (and it will), it will be 9 or 10 at night, and far from home (at best, more likely far from civilization).

I'm looking for another key myself. But getting a key off of eBay or Amazon maybe your cheapest options. And you can find the programming steps online

I dont think theres a chip in the key that needs to be programmed. Arent you just programming the remote? Especially if the switchblade key has the buttons on them for keyless entry. But Im sure you can tell me expert

lol. there is a chip that needs to be programmed. you can press the buttons all you want but they won't do shit unless it's synced up to the car.

by your logic, i can buy any new remote key fob for any car online, then go around pressing the buttons and unlocking every car in my neighborhood.

Are you clueless. Anyone can program the keys themselves. All you need is to find a keyprogramming device on the blackmarket. About $15,000 later you too can program your very own key. Of course, owning and/or using such a device will land you in jail.

To Mr_Cuervo - you're right, mrstak knows nothing and you are the expert - but - I'd bet that the dealer will sell you and program a key for less than $15,000 and it will be legal.
