Dim steering wheel lights

Hi all,

I just picked up a 2011 TSX base. I'm not new to AZ but been away for a few years. Kind of nice being back in an acura.

Anyways I noticed while driving that my lights on the steer wheel is dim. I tried adjusting the brightness but it didn't help. I tried searching and didn't find anything. Can someone verify that the back lights for the steering wheel control are adjustable?

I don't believe they are adjustable (short of modding). Its a safety thing, I got used to it fairly quickly.

They are adjustable via the knob that controls the dash lights, just not separately adjustable. At least mine are.

Thanks all.

Speed2000 what year is your car? The knob is by the gauges and it controls the dash lights but not the lights on the steering wheel.

You can't adjust the steering wheel lighting. They don't brighten and dim with the dash lighting knob. They are dim on purpose so as to not be distracting. They are designed to be dimly lit as a quick point of reference in the dark as to their general location, but you're supposed to be able know which button is where and operate them by feel.

Mine do. They brighten and dim along with the dash lights. I just checked again, try turning on the headlights, maybe that's a factor.

You're right and I'm wrong. I just checked again. The steering wheel lights do dim as well with the dash control. It's so slight that it's almost imperceptible. I never would have noticed had we not had this discussion.

No, Speed2000 was right as I noted above. The sedan does it too.

I agree, its not much of a difference but it is noticeable. I don't know if I should be happy that I'm not hallucinating or sad my car doesn't have the only adjustable steering wheel lights in the world on a TSX.

You'll know where each button is in no time! its like typing on a keyboard without looking at it.

I just assumed they were kept dim to make the color difference less noticeable. That is the only thing about the interior that bothers me. The steering wheel backlighting is green compared to the nice blue-ish white coloring of the rest of the interior lighting.
