Detailing at the Dealer?

the title has a nice ring to it, but anyways, does anyone have experience having the dealership detail their car?

Mine is offering a huge discount for their detail service and I'm wondering if I should take advantage of it.

I would advise against it. I personally detail all of the cars in my family and have never let any be touched by a dealer. In my experience, most dealerships will not properly detail your vehicle. In most cases the vehicle will come back with swirls/scratches/holograms that were not there before.

If you are still considering getting it done, take a close look at the vehicles on the lot that they have details and gage your decision based on that.

well my problem is that I don't have the time to actually detail my car myself. I wish I did but that is just not possible right now

So I'm kinda just looking around to see which shop or even dealer in this case would do the best job.

I've come to determine that our dealer is only capable of a good wash after a service trip. I won't let them "detail" the car, at all.

The only thing I'd let a dealer do is vacuum my car. There are other detail places I'd go before I went to the dealer.

hmm looks like he is mobile but he is at least 2 hours away from me. that sucks.

I'll just have to find someone more local to me

It depends on the dealership. I probably wouldn't do it either. I'm working at a dealership now and have worked at a few others and there's only 1 guy at one of them that i let detail my car. And that's because he was the cousin of my painter and he worked at Ferrari and does a hell of a job. So if you don't have a inside track to how good they are I'd advise against it.
