Definitive answer - auto lights off/on setting

Hello everyone.

I leave my lights on Auto. They go off and on way too much for no reason. When I go under overpasses (not tunnels, but overpasses), on roads with trees, anytime there is a "change". I would think they would come on when it's dark, not a change from sun to clouds or shadows.

I have my settings on LOW. The manual just talks about HOW to change the settings, but doesn't explain them. Is LOW sensitivity the right plan? Makes sense to me....but then I can't imagine what the factory default or HIGH settings would do. Having the lights come on and off so much surely makes the bulbs burn out faster.

I'm thinking about just leaving them ON all the time, I think the car will turn them off if I forget after 30 seconds.

I promise, am not an idiot, does anyone else find the auto lights to be so sensitive? Seriously....can go under an overpass on a highway and they turn on. Then turn right off obviously. Or a frikkin cloud or a shadow of a cloud will trigger them. Strange....

Mine were set to MID when I bought the car and the lights came on all the time. I changed it to MIN and haven't had any problems since. The lower the setting the least likely they will come on automatically especially when there is still plenty of light outside.

I found them to be too sensitive too regardless of setting them low or high. I got annoyed with them so I don't use auto anymore, I am completely manual.

I have mine set to the lower setting and sometimes I feel like they're not sensitive enough. Often I find that they come on 10-15 minutes later than I would have turned them on manually during the transition to evening.

simple.
why would you want a nanny telling you when and when you shouldnt turn on your head lights?

to fix this; manually turn on the head lights when you want to.

Yes I too turn mine on manually. I don't feel auto turns them on soon enough most times.
