Dark Metal Trim

Why isn't this available yet? Acura!?!?

Shopping online will give you a price with install. But ordering it from Acura? Says it isn't available and discontinued. How is a new item discontinued? It is advertised. Its in the accessories book on the parts counter. Its online. And it has a price! Anyone else experience this?

How in the hell did you find that? I've been looking and searching and scouring even the hellish armpit of ebay for that. Thank you!

Dark metal trim kit is in. Shipped quick and was relatively cheap. $18 for 2 day air. All the pieces are there. Everything is OEM. Looks great. Just kinda wish they carried over that texture feel from the dark metal trim piece in the steering wheel. Oh well. It's black. ;-) Me likey.

I know I said Monday but I got bored so I did it myself. I'm not paying $120 for someone else to screw it up.

Here are the links.

As you can see the black is quite black against everything else. I'm considering pulling the panels off and taking them to get a very light sandblasting. I think the texturing would make them just a bit less black to match the rest of the interior better. However, since they are so black it really makes the scene markedly darker inside when driving at night. So I'm going to just let it ride for a while until I get bored with it.

Oh, and I hope the price I stated above wasn't misunderstood. That was just shipping only. The total for me was like $194 and change. Not too bad.

All the pieces fit in place perfectly. Just make sure when pulling your center console you don't bend anything awkwardly so as to not screw up your cup holder cover. It was very straight forward and VERY easy to do. All it takes is a phillips screwdriver (small bit and #2 bit.) and something with a thin, flat head to pry a few things with. Other than that you can get most of it by hand. I did it in an hour. 10 minutes alone on the center console because I didn't want to scratch anything. If you have a manual trans, you'll need a 17mm socket to remove the shift knob. The pieces fit together a little differently I guess.

Overall I'm happy with it. Nice interior mod. I have yet to see another with a black trim kit. I don't doubt there are others, just haven't seen any.

Oh, an it wouldn't let me upload the rest of the pics but the ones shown are pretty much the bulk of what you need to see.

Hope this helps if you are interested in doing this to your car. I figured out a couple little tricks along the way so if you decide to do this and wind up getting stuck, PM me. I'll get back to you as quick as I can. DIY not recommended my a$$.

Doesn't look too bad, but you're right, it's reallllly black. lol. I was considering doing this, but i might just try out some vinyl wraps later on or something. Wayy too black for me. Good job nonetheless!

Ok... Two days after install. The blackness was certainly a shock but honestly its growing on me like the front grille. And at certain angles in the light it takes on a silverish tone which I thought was pretty cool. I still note no defects whatsoever. I think I'm going to leave this one alone. In a week I'll probably think the silver looks bad. lol! Easy to clean too. Perhaps a little easier than the silver. And for some reason the other trim always looked dirty to me. This makes the cleanliness of your interior stand out. So I'm going to say I recommend this one. Just let the shock value pass and it'll grow on you.
