Convince me that a TSX is better than a G25x...

I'm in the market to lease a new car, and I've pretty much narrowed it down to a TSX and G25x. I originally wanted a GTI, but if you can believe it, it leases for way more than these two cars... Also, these are basically the only luxury cars within my price range.

I had an '05 TSX 6MT which I loved, I'm currently in an Si, and want to go back to something a bit nicer. I have to go automatic because of the fiance (i know - it sucks)... IMO these cars are basically complete equals, and the G25x is also AWD... So, convince me!

Don't give me cheap interior BS, because compared to what I'm coming from both interiors are very nice, plus the Infiniti people will say the opposite of what you say. And I don't want to hear reliability because I'm leasing, plus I hear Infiniti/nissan reliability is just as good as Honda/Acura. I don't want to spur arguments, just honest opinions...

go get your butt into both cars.

Since, most of us have not or will never sit in a G25....we wont know how well it drives or what the interior feels like.

Did you post something similar in an infiniti forum as well? If you did, Id like a link to it haha

As for the question, personally, I cannot answer as I've not test driven the G25.
On paper though, I know the G25x does not have GPS option, and no paddles avail. for the auto trans.

It just comes down to test driving and your initial impressions.

If they were priced the same, personally I think wouldve went with the G series when I was buying my TSX...So much for arguing for team TSX....

well, i mean, we dont really HAVE to convince you of anything. We all like our car and made our choice already

if you really wanna buy a G25x, by all means, go for it. And like you said, you are gonna hear how we like it here, and how they like it there. Just pick what makes you happy.

I see you're in Jersey, so if you want, and you are near hoboken, ill drive by and wave at you from my TSX and you can see how you would look if you bought one

Personally, there is no compromise when it comes to the 6MT. My wife can drive her automatic and I can drive my manual.

I actually live in Hoboken! Uptown by any chance?

I didn't post yet in Infiniti, but I plan on it! When I do I'll bring the link here.
I test drove the G25x, but I definitely need to go again. I've driven my mom's '10 TSX plenty of times, and I'll have to give the '11 a test drive just for comparison purposes. I'm foregoing Nav, so that's a non-issue. The Infiniti is really nice, and I like the interior and exterior improvements they've made over the years. The one reason why at this point I'm leaning towards G25x is becaue of the AWD at basically the same price, plus I've never had an Infiniti before and like to try new things...

i had an 09 and now have a 11' tsx base AT

i like the 11' interior over the 09-10 interior mainly because of the white stitchings. rear vents on the 11' is cool but i have no use for it.

might as well get a G25 since your mom has the 10' tsx

Awesome! I live in JC just a stones throw away. Do you know Big Fun Toys or the parking garage on 9th and Garden by any chance?

For me personally i love that the TSX is still unique, i feel like a g25 will blend in with the background, and i also feel that you will get alot more bells and whistles for the price

I dug up these two other threads for you, 2 more G25 vs TSX threads, read through em and it might help you make up your mind:

i had 08 G35s before and now i have 09 TSX and i love the TSX. obviously the MPG is different between the G37 and G25 so no point of me telling you my G35s was horrible in gas.

Nav - Acura is 100% better than Nissan/Infiniti. G was very annoying to use and cannot use while car is in motion(of course i rewired them to get around that. haha)

Styling - TSX is better. I got bored with my G styling after 6 months or so.

Interior space - equal. both cars have some what small back seat but not really sure since i never sat in the back seat of my cars so (got any kids? or plans for 1?)

Trunk space - TSX is better. Im a golfer so its pretty important that my bag fits. G was very small and difficult to get the bag in n out but TSX is much easier.

Key fob - I wish our TSX had the push botton instead of actually turning the key. The push botton was very very nice and easy.

Performance - obv, i went from G35s to TSX (4cyl) so take a guess. but not really sure how G25 is.

basically, the only thing i miss on the G is the key fob/push start botton. other than that, im glad i switched to TSX

Nav - Not getting it, too expensive, so irrelevant.
Styling - Subjective
Trunk Space - I don't haul stuff
Key fob - yeah, it's cool, but I don't mind turning a key.
Performance - I didn't notice much difference on my test drives, which is why I have to go again, and on paper they're almost equal. The only thing I read is that the Infiniti has better dynamics because of the RWD bias and platform.

thanks for the opinions though, that's the sort of thing I'm looking for.

the closest infiniti dealer to me is about 130 miles. When I was in the area a few months ago we stopped to check out the new cars. We walked around looking over what they had. Never did get to talk to a salesperson-none to be found. Left the dealer. I am very happy with my 06 tsx. Luckily both my husband and I love manual transmission. I would suggest you check out the cars and you decide what is best for you.

This forum is for adults. No one is interested in convincing anyone. Read some car comparison reviews, take a test drive and make up your own mind what is right for you.....as it may no be right for others.

Good luck.

I simply don't get why people use the whole "my wife/fiance won't drive a manual" excuse...

After a few drives, it's like riding a bike. Makes no sense to me, and that's coming from someone who lives in one of the most traffic-ridden cities in the country.

Haha at least somebody knows where I'm coming from!

You try convincing a woman who commutes via public transportation to learn to drive a manual! I hear ya though. I live in one of the most trafficy areas of the country as well and I would still prefer a manual. However, love over transmission... She did promise that when we eventually get a second car, whenever that may be, it can be a manual.

I've been parking on the street for 6 years; 4 in Hoboken, 2 in the city (manhattan). I can parallel with my eyes closed and come within 1/2 an inch of each car, but I know it's the other people I have to worry about... but what can ya do. It's actually one of the reasons why I lease - I can't really take care of the car and keep it in good shape. Plus, I live in a 'good' part of hoboken without many bar-goers or overcrowded streets. There are always way nicer cars than the TSX or Infiniti on the streets.

I enjoy driving a nice car, I'd rather have a pleasant commute, so to me it's worth a few dings and scratches.

thats true, but i still love to baby my rides. When i DO have to drive in i get it put in the garage there on 9th cause my good friend works as the weekday tech there. And yeah, other people are the worry there in hoboken, especially when they try to make space by nudging your car forward. Since i live in JC i am usually up and down washington and whatevers close or at the toy store

And ed_423 pulls through with a definite answer!
I think the smartest thing to do is test drive both cars again and see which feels the best. The Acura is definitely slightly less expensive and gets better gas mileage, but if I can get the price of the G down $20 or $30 a month it would be pretty damn close.

So you’re 15, you go to bars, AND you have a car? The 15 and bars and cleavage I get, I'm sure 13 year olds can get into bars these days... but how is it you’re driving in NJ at 15?

i havent driven the G but i hate the way nissans drive. love my tsx. i park it on the streets of hoboken a good amount at night and havent gotten anything yet. knock on wood. never anything in the city either come to think of it. im up in fort lee, but i spend more time in hoboken and nyc than i do here haha. if ya want, we can meet up and you can take a spin in my 10 tsx, see how it feels worn in a bit. definately different than the test drive ones with 5 miles on them. im 18, but getting into bars and clubs has never been a problem for me

I knew you'd chime in considering you are the only female that frequents these boards.

This thread is cracking me up! @OP. Infiniti's are nice and have nice engines, and are all around built fairly well; that being said, I'm not a fan of the styling on their newer models.

Go with your gut. Personally, I love the old G20's and the 1st gen G35 coupes.

Well if you take away the lack of manual tranny and nav argument, the TSX still has way better cabin tech than the G - even in base form. I also think the TSX is a better looking car. The G does nothing for me asthetically.

I was in the same situation as you, between a G25x and a TSX base, before I chose the TSX.

For me, personally, the TSX gave me everything I wanted plus better fuel efficiency for a lower price than the G (I bought). Nothing more, nothing less.

I commute from Fort Lee to Livingston and back, and enjoy it every single day in the Acura.

Good luck with your decision.

Quick Reply: Convince me that a TSX is better than a G25x...
