The Console Drink Cooler
The Console Drink Cooler
I understand the 11's have a console drink cooler. Sounds pretty "cool".
Is it possible this option could be retrofitted to earlier models?
Anyone looked into it yet?
Knowing Acura/Honda I'm sure the part will carry a suitably astronomical price but I would think it wouldn't be to hard to install.

Thank's. I thought it might be a high tech solid-state compartment or some such thing. Should have guessed knowing that they added the rear seat vents also.
So, a retrofit would probably involve installing all the duct work and a new center console assembly. Based on what you said it hardly seems worth it.

^honestly, how often would anyone use their center console to keep anything cool? The only thing I'm interested in keeping cool is my beer, and I wouldn't put it in the center console with all those component plugins and wiring.
My 2 cents..

As stated above, there is no console drink cooler. It's just another A/C vent located inside. If you've got your A/C blasting inside the car cold enough to keep a drink cool in there, I fear you would suffer from hypothermia long before getting to enjoy your frosty beverage. The cupholders just forward of the center console are where drinks are intended to be stored. Keeping a drink in the console with your MP3 player and the various wires is unwise. Likewise, the costs involved of trying to retrofit an older TSX with the 2011's rear climate control makes such a proposition unwise.
KillerG, that's actually pretty funny. And Friday is still one of my favorite movies ever.
Anyway, had a 150 mile drive today and I put a bottle of water, room temperature, in the cooler and with the AC on at 68 degs the entire time, it was pleasantly cool. Not chilled, just cool. It will work ok when you have something that's already cold in there, but without any additional insulation or blasting the AC at < 60 degs, I don't think you should expect much. It's a simple and creative feature by Honda/Acura, if you ask me, and it probably didn't cost them much to add it while the car was being built, but I'm not sure it's worth the trouble adding yourself, unless you really want to or need it for something. Just my 2 cents.

the 2011 has a lot of nice subtle touches like that. It makes me wonder if i should ever buy a first run of a vehicle again :/
then again, the 2011 is also a really really quick MMC, right? 09/10 and then bam refresh.
first gen tsx had to wait 04/05/06 then 07/08
maybe well get a cool 2011 navi retro one day
