Considering buying a 2009 TSX

I have my eyes on a 2009 TSX with 227k on it. A Ford dealership here in town took it on trade and has about 44 service records. Oil was changed every 6000k miles. Dealership wants $5100 for it. What do you guys think?
CHeck this thing out. Please give me some meaningful feedback if you can.

THanks.

It has 14 views already, probably more in the coupling days. As that number goes up, the dealer may think he has a hot car and won't deal as easily.

Anyone? I honestly do not care what the dealer thinks. It just one car I am looking at simply because it right near me.

Car looks really clean! Very well cared for. Says a lot about the quality of the owners. If the service records look good, jump on it! See if and when the timing chain and guides have been replaced and VTC actuator. Any oil consumption issues in the history? Other than those common issues, car is pretty solid and you shouldn’t have any major issues.

In that condition at that price I'd just go for it. If you end up not liking the car or finding there's an issue that may arise later on you can always sell it soon and likely break even... See if you han haggle a bit though... It never hurts!

Hey thanks guys. I am really thinking about just buying it. I talked with the Dealership main manger today. It might be real solid. Seems easy enough to work on. I have had 4 TL's now. So this 2.4 Should be a breeze. Thanks. though. Just don't know alot about the TSX's.

VTC actuator is probably going to be your biggest concern... Have you driven it yet?

From what i researched. The VTC is cheap. and the job takes about 30 minutes. (please keep in mind I just pay about 3K to get the Water pump, Timing belt, Rear main seal, 4 new tires, 2 new stock rims. and then the car got wrecked 20 minutes after leaving the shop and paying that bill. so anything under that biils seems like small taters to me. See very sad about the loss. Looking forward to the future.

I cried. Like a man. I still feel like I am dying inside a little. My father and brother have been real supportive. I am blessed to have a decent family and some money saved up for a down payment. But Yeah. It was likely the worst monday I have had in a long long time.

If you all want I will post some pics of the remains. I will be doing a part out. She had brand new tires and 2 new rims. So I am not sending it to the jbone yard. It's living out on my dad farm now. Please try and keep it positive. I am having a hrd time with this right now. Just trying to find good ways to look at the situation. I appreciate you all.

Thanks.

I'm a little surprised a dealership would not go ahead and wholesale a vehicle of that age and mileage...that probably says something about the quality of this specific vehicle. How's the condition of the seats and interior in general? Does everything work? As others have mentioned...the VTC actuator could be an issue (it was replaced ~110k miles on my TSX) and possible excessive oil consumption.

IMO...if the interior is in good shape, everything works and you're the type of owner who actually checks your oil level...then I'd see if I could talk them down a little more and go for it. Their great cars IMO.

Good Luck.

Being as I am a dealership employee, those were my thoughts too. Them keeping it to retail it is a testament of its "presentation"....ie cleanliness, passing mechanical and safety inspection etc. We keep good clean cars with high mileage for about 30 days before they get wholesaled. Also, this time of year alot of dealerships will keep more lower $$ cars as "tax season" approaches with the hopes of retailing those cars to the public. Most dealerships would rather retail a car than wholesale a car.
