Car washing... Yes, I am a car scrub

So guys, after you wash your car, what cloth do you use the wipe the water off? My car is very dirty and I am very afraid of scratching the paint. Do I use microfiber? How should I wipe the water off the paint?

Thanks guys

hey man i am a car scrub too, dont be ashamed...i just started learning all this stuff last summer and ive spent more than a few hours on autopia by now

Only microfiber cloths. you can use a genuine california water blade to remove excess water if you like it saves some time. When washing the soap off make sure you sheet the water so it takes off more and requires less drying. finally use a microfiber or waffle weave towel to dry the car clean. follow up with a quik-detailer or wax if you please : )

so when you are done washing what you do is basically let the water run over the car very gently from the top down. if you just let it cascade over the car then the natural surface tension properties of water will cause it to bead up with more water on the way down and in the end you will have a lot less to dry than if you just sprayed the car and stopped there.

I use the sheet method plus the California water blade. Google it, you can't go wrong.

Lastly, I *blot* the remaining drops with a microfiber towel.

Waffle weave is the preferred way of drying your car. Microfiber works great too, just make sure it's big enough to absorb all the water.

Look up user "TSC17". He's one of the best, if not THE best with this kind of stuff. He has a very detailed write up on how to properly wash your car, both on AZ and on other detailing sites, like Detailed Image, and Autopia.

All the steps are necessary in a "maintenance wash"
You can pretty much skip "foam and rinse" step if you are polishing the car.
