Car TOTALLED. Time to get a 10' model

i had a 09 TSX base @ $29k

there's one 10'TSX base V6 left over with a stick price at $34k in black.

i want to get a 10' PMM and they have them in base I4. ive seen prices on this site go for $25k. am i on the right track?

also whats the expected price i should go if i went the V6 tech route or V6 base route?

i have the '10 I4 base. i think sticker was about 28 for base, 31 for tech. v6 added another 5-6k. so i'd expect 2-3k more for the tech(though the '11 has a much nicer navi(screen) i hear, so if you want tech, maybe you should grab the '11).

if your insurance company totals the car, i think you can actually buy it back from them pretty cheap. i saw someone doing that on the black market here, selling their parts(had alot of engine mods i think), or maybe you can try to just buy back some parts. if you plan on going for the tsx again, you could probably get the new one before they take away your 09, and just switch out the headlights. put the 10's into your old car, and put the modded ones into your new one.

i got no idea's for the hood though, i dunno how easily that comes off so you could switch it to the other car haha

also try going to the guy that did your tints and be like listen, you did mine not too long ago, car got totalled, could you hook me up with a deal to put new tints on my new car. he probably would just because your a returning customer and you might send business his way.

sorry for the wall of text, hope it helped. PS: don't give back the clips you left off your bumper. keep em incase you break any on the new one =D

thanks. i personally dont like how the 11' looks.

i dont think id buy back the car because the side of the car is scratched up from my zipper jacket when i had a small carport

im taking off all my parts except for the tints and springs.

i probably wont be taking the headlights. i have to remember to get my DRL bulbs. ill just rebake my new headlights.

Damn Defcon! THAT SUCKS!

Well at least it gives you a great excuse to join us '10-ers

My the old CU2 rest in peace. One of the most unique, if not THE most unique, CU2 on here.

Glad to hear ther wasnt another accident or no injuries. But damn, you have done so many things to that car its sad to see it go.

Im still trying to figure out how it did enough damage to warrant a total loss but hey no matter. Youll be getting a new car out of it. Really hope you get another TSX because I love seeing your mods.

severe passenger-side frame damage underneath. the body shop quoted 4k to repair it but my insurance company feels that its still unsafe because its "frame damage" which they warranted a total loss.

yea im sticking to the acura family. i still dont see too many CU2's in my area and i get my moneys worth with this car

Sorry to hear about your car getting totaled, defcon, and good luck with your new car search. Personally, I would not get a used car. You don't know who's been in it, and you don't know how well they took care of the car. You do save a lot of money, but IMHO the money is not enough to mitigate the imperfect information situation.

WRT the 2011's looks... I am not 100% sure but I would be willing to bet that parts from our model year would fit on the 11. You could get an '11 and then bolt your bumpers back on if they're not damaged, or if they are have a body shop fix them up, paint them, and then put them on your new car.

Again, hope everything works out for you.

I got my TSX V6 Tech for like $33,600 before taxes and fees. And that was March 2010...and I thought that was a pretty good deal.

So...maybe you can get an even better deal on a V6 now that they're onto a new model year?

you never know how some one was on the clutch...
I bought my car with 30k miles and clutch went out at 37k.
I probably contributed to the death of it, because the TL is a pretty hard car to learn on.

i just got my 2010 V6 for 32,800, it was one of the last on the lot. if a car is last on the lot the dealer NEEDS to sell it to make room for new inventory, of course they wont tell you that though. i got mine for almost 33k with absolutely NO money down. i was however almost done with my lease on my 08 TL base which kinda helped. if they dont offer you what you really want then literally WALK OUT of the dealer, if they need to sell it bad enough they wont let you walk away without offering you a better deal.

Man, sorry to hear bout the total, but at least you get that new car smell back. Ha. Join us on the darkside man (v6 that is). Well worth it, not sure about the tech package though. Only thing I wish I had from the tech package was the nicer display, but didn't need the nav. I know where i am going 98 percent of the time. Other times I have my phone. Again sorry to hear bout the car, you had a lot of work into that thing bro. Good luck with the search for the new one.

Meant to add, I got my v6 for 31,500 out the door. I told em that was my max and I was going to leave and have lunch call me when they could make it happen. An hour and half later....got the call. Good luck.

Sorry to hear. Your '09 has been an inspiration to many people on AZ.

On to the next one! Looking forward to see what you come up with.

Took 2 hours two dismantle my parts. =(

Left the Tein springs on. I lose out on my tints, a full tank of gas, and my painted grill

BTW, I plasti dipped the upper grill.

I'll be asking my insurance company if i can keep the hood, grill and headlights for a discount and just deduct it from total

Damn bro, that sucks. Glad to hear no injuries on your part. I actually just finished clearing my headlights.... It took me all of 6 hours to complete the project, but it took me 2 months to grow the balls and do it, lol! It's done now and I'm happy.

Dam...sorry about your car. But anyway, I saw you commented that you are considering a used car? Well, I would think twice about it. I bought a used 2003 BMW 325ci about 4 years ago. It drove fine and I love the performance of the car but then the transmission blew. I bought into the whole 120 point full BMW certified inspection marketing scheme. Honestly, it's not worth it. I rather pay a little more for a new car. I learned my lesson and want to give you my two cents.

test drove 2011 V6 and a 2011 6spd tech

OMG the 6 speed is awesome. i liked the torque and acceleration compared to my 09 AT. really really want a 6spd but too bad my wife cant drive a MT.

V6 felt slower than the base AT. also felt heavier in the acceleration. the steering has improved alot on the 11'.

just got a new battery for my 01 prelude after its been sitting on the sideline for a month. feels good again to drive my rice rocket.

i should get my settlement in a few days.

yea she drives an RDX thats AT. she said for emergency she can drive my car while i take the prelude which is MT

we both have shitty credit so im not sure if i can get another TSX. she had a 700 fico before when we got the TSX and now its crap. not sure if the dealer will finance someone with bad credit

i might have to trade/sell the prelude to get another TSX
