Burning Oil???
Hi,
I've owned my 2010 Acura TSX since 2011, purchased new from dealership.
I've done most of my oil changes either in my own home garage or at my friends garage (mechanic). We've use and/or followed all oem specs.
After about two oil changes, my friend noticed that the car does not have a lot of oil draining out, when we are doing oil changes.
I also noticed that the after about 1000 miles or 3000 km, my oil service indicator drops from 100 percent to 70 percent.
A few times the car choked and got jerky when I was entering on ramps at about 90 km/hr. When this happened the car would also light of the emissions light.
Two conclusions:
The engine is burning oil and/or;
Something is wrong with this engine.
My mechanic friend who works on a lot of Honda/Acura cars said a new car 2011, should not be burning oil to this extent.
He advised me to go back to the dealer for future oil changes, so they can also see this problem.
Note: I did bring it to the dealership for an oil change once and brought up this issue. They said that I should be checking the oil level every 'now' and 'then' as these engines are known to burn oil. My own mechanic friend does not agree with this statement. He said if the car has 100000 miles on it that might be the car, but for a new(er) car with only about 15000 miles on it this should not be the case.
ANY HELP OR INSIGHT ON THIS MATTER IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. Thank you in advance
