auto side mirrors closing

Hi guys,

can you tell me, how can I programe the car to close its side mirrors when lock the car? And of course open them when unlock it. It is super-annoying to do this all the time via the button on the doors.

Thank you

Yes the power folding mirror is available in Europe as well as Japan. They have narrow roads there and it's common for drivers to fold their mirror after they parked their vehicle.

Also, European regulations dictate cars headlight to be clear of dirt which is why EUDM and JDM Accord comes with headlight washers.

it's just another electronic feature I don't want that could potentially be damaged later if someone or another car bumped into the mirror. We have big open roads and plenty of parking space here in God bless the USA.

That's an awesome feature, US or not. Sometimes there are only tight spots here in cali. The bad new is, if you manual open or close this mirror by an incident or accident your screwed. Mirror is done as far as electrically folding or opening is concerned.

Why always cars in US are poor comper to euro version. Even canadian version has front headlights washer and washer indicator and we don't. I always have to open the hood and check my washer fluid level.

We don't have headlight washers in Canada, we do however have washer low indicator light as well as larger washer fluid tank (2.5L in US vs 4.5L in Canada).

I think that headlight washers are useless anyway. They only cost some money and it is another thing which can possibly broke.

Oh, that's a cool feature, but not on any U.S. model since we have wide parking space. Sometimes I have to park in tight spot in Boston, but only once in a while, manually doing shouldn't be a problem.

The option of closing side-mirrors are only available on the Honda Accord Euro-R.

I know how much of us want it but most cars in our car price range don't offer it electrically. Like the A4, IS, and the G we don't get the electrically closing side-mirrors. Benz/BMW offer it in a package I believe, but those cost over 40K. Also surprising the A4 and G cost over 40K and don't offer it... fail....

You need to order two sets of Auto Retract Mirror wiring kit from Honda in Japan. Part# 08V02-TL0-000. If installed correctly, and your folding mirror switch on the door is off, when you lock your car doors, the mirrors will fold automatically.

I've ordered the above part thinking it was the actual closing mechanism, if you want to test it out, just pm me and I will sell you the wiring kit at cost and you can test it out (instructions in Japanese though).

Volve x70 has this function in US. I like this function because my garage door is not so wide. Acura should put it on RDX & MDX

Not quite correct. truelies may have a Volve.

A Volve is either:

TheVolve oil field off the coast of Norway, 220 kilometres from Stavanger, or - from the Urban dictionary

Definition: 1) A device which is flush fit towards something. 2) A Volve is something or someone that can not say words with al in properly.

My Euro has the electric folding mirrors but they only fold when I press the button to have them fold in.
There is a module available which makes them fold automaticly but I assume you guys already know since this thread is quite old now.

Let me clarify your comment.

This module does nothing with US spec cars without the electrically folding mirrors.

What would it take to install the folding mirrors (motor) into the car. I would be completely game to fold my mirrors each time (and press a button)

Anyone know? Would love to get the parts and install...

Would it be possible to source the jdm mirror motor and install that in our mirrors? The wiring to it could be similar to the independent fogs? Add a relay and the signal source would get power when the car is on, and when the car shuts off no signal=closed mirrors. Or am I way over simplifying this?

Motor swap from a prius forum:

Not sure about Honda, but I know that the same retrofit on the current MB E series is about $2500 in parts. We know that MB parts are expensive but Acura mirrors aren't cheap either. Then there are the wiring and door bits.

Hmm.... retro-fit folding electric mirrors. Once again, it hasn't taken long for me to come across evidence that this site is widely populated by people with way too much time on their hands....
