Question "Advanced Cargo Net"?

My dealership still owes me the cargo net and an install that I got thrown in w/ my negotiations when I bought my car. They still owe me it because they couldn't get it done the last time it was in, and I told them I was in no rush [to be without my car and in a loaner again] and would just get it done in the future and when my car was already being worked on for something. BUT here's the thing: I don't seem to really care that it is not there, and I am not so sure how useful it would will really be to me.

So...does anyone have one? If so, do you like it? Do you recommend it, or could you live without? I am wondering if I should just get something else like the trunk tray or cargo organizer instead. I'm sure the dealership would not object to this at all, as they are cheaper accessories.

I have it and LOVE it. I bought it off ebay from an Acura dealer in Arizona. Installed it myself. It's not just simply snapping it in place. Holes need to be drilled in order to install the hooks, but overall installation is pretty easy.

I carry a lot of things in my trunk for work as well as some recreational items (football, basketball, golfing gear) for whenever I may need them since I play in a couple leagues. It divides up the trunk into 4 main quadrants and also has a pocket, so it keeps everything from sliding around.

I can take a pic if you or anyone would like.

The ONLY thing I don't like about it, is that it has a long orange reflective strip along the top. If I had to guess why, it must be for reflecting headlights at night when the trunk is open, otherwise I don't see a point to it.

I'll take some but you'll have to wait a few days. I'm out of town now through Monday night. I'll try to take some on Tuesday when I'm back.

I would rather get the trunk MAT. I also installed the cargo "hooks" for my wife. The hooks are particularly useful because you can hang shopping/grocery bags there (<6 lbs). It is cheap on the net...around $12 or something. However, you need a special Acura tool to install it. I did it without the tool and it works OK, but i am sure that the tool will make things easier.

Conclusion: get the MAT. If you don't like the net, then consider the hooks.

Here's the pics as promised.

This picture shows where a couple of the hooks need to be installed.

This last pic is the top hook and the part of the instructions where I decided to do my own thing. The instructions direct you to remove that black plactic plug and drill the hole using this special tool. Well, that's too much of a pain in the ass, so I decided since it's just sheet metal there anyways, to just use a self-drilling screw and install it right next to where it's supposed to be. Was MUCH easier and far less time consuming.

Thanks a million, DerwoodEE! I could definitely see how that would be useful, but after really looking at it I don't think I need it...I hardly ever have things in my trunk and when I do, it is solid, heavy items that don't roll around much.

I think I would rather have the "Trunk Tray" or something else instead. I wonder if the dealership will be willing to swap since nothing has been installed yet? I don't see why not, as the Trunk Tray is a cheaper item for them.

I am digging that thing. I had the tray & net thing in my Si & liked it, but for some reason haven't looked into the one for this car yet.

If you unclip the upward hook mounts, does it lay pretty much flat to put suitcases, etc in there?

I usually just unhook it completely if I need the space for large items then just push it off to the side or take it out. It's only a few hooks so it takes like 30 seconds to undo it.

I had a cargo net in my G35 and loved it, although it wasn't as "advanced" as this one as was really just a single pocket. But I liked it enough that I knew I wanted one for this car too. It's also great for groceries and keeps everything move moving all over the place.
