Acura holds its value....yeah right!?

First off, to all of you who are saying I don't understand economics, you guys are idiots. Every one of you stated that it will lose 30% in the first few years. Its only been 10 months and its lost 30%.
Second off, I didn't pay MSRP for the car. I paid somewhere around $34k and then had to put the negative equity of my previous car into it, bringing it to $38k. $34000 for a V6 tech TSX is a great deal, considering its a full 1.5 seconds faster than all of your I4s and only a couple thousand more.
Finally, for all of you stating you can get rid of it on swap a lease or one of those sites, no you can't. Acura Financial does not allow you to transfer your lease. All of the leases listed on there if you notice are 36 mo, meaning dealers are placing their NEW leases on there, not used leases.
Oh, and as far as all the issues being taken care of by TSB's....a quality car should not have that many issues in the first place. Granted it isn't as bad as the Pontiac I had, my Scion and Nissan both had absolutely nothing wrong with them the whole time I owned them. And don't say it doesn't have many issues, because Consumer Reports, an unbiased company, states the TSX is only average reliability, which for an Acura is absolutely horrible.

Ok. So your pissed that the Acura isn't retaining the negative equity of your previous car.

Honestly everyone, I was just venting because I found out my trade in was so low and I was stupidly trying to buy an ISF. I really do love my TSX, and Im sorry if i offended anyone. It's just everyone started to attack me immediately.

you bought the bloated V6/Tech package.. of course that's going to deflate quickly. That v6 isn't worth the $5k it cost to begin with.
Buy a base i-4 and the value holds steady.

I'm going to have to agree with the original poster. Just to see what things are like on the market, I've asked for trade-in offers from a number of dealers in the tri-state area. I haven't gotten a trade-in offer over $23,000 for my 2010 TSX with tech package and 3,800 miles on it. On the other hand, KBB shows a trade value of $28,275 but no one will even touch that. As far as I'm concerned, that's pretty crummy.

Also, KBB is not an exact science, and not every dealer abides by it. In fact, some dealers use what's called "black book" I believe?

If you're leasing, why do you care so much?
If what you're saying is true, it's Acura's problem at the end of the lease.

Am I missing something?
Why would you lease a machine and then be concerned about the depreciation in value?
Even if you intended to buy it at the end of the lease term, if the residual doesn't make sense then you just turn the car over. I once turned in an RX300 at the end of the lease even though I wanted to buy it, but the residual was absolutely ridiculous. BTW, the lease company begged me for months to buy it and even made an effort at reducing the price. I then leased an RX330, negotiate the residual value, and ended up buying it at term.
So, obviously you must have liked the car when purchased and all the bugs are relatively minor and covered by Acura, so why the bitch'n and all the talk about turning it over early. Just pure nonsense. Get your bugs fixed and just enjoy the ride for cry'n out loud.
I bought a V6, didn't pay anywhere close to MSRP, have had no problems to date and could care less what the depreciation is now cause I love the car. I know through experience that if I take care of it I'll get a good resale or trade allow when I'm done with it.

My last car was a 2006 Mazda6. I traded it with 102,611 miles and I got $6300 for it. The car's sticker was $26k new and the car was in excellent condition. Wanna talk about bad resale??
I am refinancing my 2010 TSX, the bank says it's worth $28,500 with the 1,000 miles I currently have. The sticker was $30,500, and I paid $26,500 for the vehicle. I think the resale value is quite good.

Last I checked Acuras still reign supreme among luxury makes for resale and residual value. Doesn't sound like you know much about used car values or how to negotiate a new car deal.
All issues you're describing have been addressed by TSB's so stop your damn belly-aching or get an Audi and maybe you'll have better luck with reliability.

Noob question, but may I ask -
what is a "TSB"?

could also be a technical service bulletin. an issue the mfg has recognized the importance of fixing, but the fault isnt severe enough to warrant a recall.
example:
1) sometimes the HFL keeps dialing sex hotlines, not a big deal, just annoying, it gets issued a TSB for "sex hotline fix"
2) sometimes the cars wheels fall off while driving below 10 mph, this would potentially kill you alot, so the dealer issues a mandatory recall for this issue
you can find a list of TSBs in the 2G TSX garage stick in the main forum

Technical Service Bulletin.
Basically it's how the company says "We messed up on this part, but we don't wanna pay for a recall so you're going to have to fix it". But most of the time, dealer will cover the cost I think. Most of the time.

faster, probably.. handles better.. probably not.. its still a v6 in a tsx.. which is front heavy.. and you aint racing around in it to even feel a difference... just excuses to buying a v6 tsx tech that no one wants..
its that no one wants a v6 tsx that your price is so low.. also you are doing a dealer trade in.. since when was a dealer trade in a good deal?
