Please remove that "Riverside" decal and get a new license plate frame, dude. LOLOLOL.
A question for everyone who got their car tinted: Did they have to remove your rear shelf to cover the 3rd brake light?

Don't believe so. I think there's some sort of tool they use to slide the tint in that area. I didn't watch them but maybe when I get my new car I'll stay and watch. KillerG stayed and watched them though.
The dealership that did mine said they needed to take out the brake light in order to not have the cutout for it. I dont know if that was true or not, but they wanted an extra $90 to do it which is a stupid amount. I kind of want to get my back window redone, and just take off the brake light for them...

Not really, it just makes a car really ugly and stand out in the back if you don't do it
theres a light blue tsx with rear cutouts and it looks retarded

hmm. the audio/tint shop i went to had to remove my rear deck in order to tint over my 3rd brake light. They said they could try to slide the tint into the area w/o removing the it, but the area would be prone to bubbling. I guess they were incorrect, but I appreciated their thoroughness. BTW double check that your brake light still works after the tint job. guys at the shop i went to blew the bulb by accident.
Most CU2s in my area dont have the 3rd brake light tinted. I had to specifically ask for it to be done because I knew it would bother me.

mine didn't even ask me, they just did the full window, i went to the same place as stak and killerG. also, is that really 25%?? do you have the taupe interior. i have 35 in the front and 20 in the back, and i swear the 35 is darker than your 25...
The guy said that it will be darker once it cures
Is that even possible? Darker tints over time? I feel like that's bs...
although the time of day and angle of shots could account for why the tints don't look as dark as pyro's...but i do think yours looks maybe not as dark? pyro's and mine were 35 and your windows look on par or so with ours...

tints dont get darker afaik, but your tint guy might have told you its 25% because he was factoring in the very slight factory tint, which is only around ~5% (10 is a stretch) plus his tint (35%) giving you 25%
So, I just went to the Honda dealership that I got my car tinted at about 6 months ago. It's starting to bother me that my third brake light isnt tinted, so I went and asked them about getting it re tinted. They said: They need more room between the glass and brake light for their tools. They can do it with the deck there, but he said that it will have a high chance of bubbling in that area and the bubbles will make their way up the windshield. So I was thinking about just taking the rear deck out myself and get it retinted(Im sure Mr Ed has some pdfs laying around somewhere). To get the rear tint removed and retinted would be $100. This is pretty steep considering that I paid 190 for all windows first time around. He said that if I call around and get a better price they might be able to pricematch it, I dont know how willing they'd be to honor the price of a small tint shop if they give a better price. I'd rather get it done at the dealership because i know they use quality tint and they have a warranty with it. What are you guys thoughts on this? Is $100 reasonable to redo the back window?

Yep, it is illegal as it decreases the light output to below legal limits. Like others have said, it looks goofy cut out around it - but - in theory your insurer could refuse coverage if you were rear-ended and the guy behind you said you had no brake lights. In addition, you could be ticked twice - once for the illegal tint and once for defective/inop equipment in any traffic stop. Even if tint isn't a primary reason for a traffic stop in all states, the dark brakelight is.
Nice tint ! My 3rd brake light is cut out and I have parchment. It's killing me!
Im having it redone this weekend. My tint shop told me the same ^ in case of an accident anything tht hinders the light output can be a reason to decline coverage.
I went to 2 Local trusted tint shops, Both told me and SHOWED ME their tool couldn't fit down deep enough, $70 to remove deck, carefully remove tint wl out damaging the defrost lines, And reapply the tint on full window

i disagree with that. i've never heard of that happening, theres a reason its the third brake light. you have 2 others on your tail lights. beside that, any idiot who claims that you had no brake lights which is why he rear ended you is a moron. you can be engine braking, or even just not on the gas. you watch the car infront of you, if its coming closer, and you speed up cause you don't see brake lights, your simply retarded. also, in jersey, if you get rear ended, its 100% the other guys fault, not many questions asked. minus ofcourse reversing and hitting someone. in jersey its legal to get the rear windshield fully tinted as long as its above 5%
Tell em how you feel bro !
My tint is cut around the 3rd brake light but I don't really care that its not tinted in that spot. Back in the glory days when I bought my S40 I picked it over a Mazda 3 (basically the same car) because I liked the bigger brake lights of the S40. So the moral of my story is the more brake lights on the back of my car, the merrier
