Just got a notification from NHTSA, 2009-2011 TSX and 2011 TSX wagon will have the passenger airbag recalled for those living in warmer climates (Zone A). This does not appear to affect the driver's airbag, only the passenger's.

Is it only the wagon (I have the sedan)? I just checked my VIN on the website - says no recalls.

The VIN Checker is not updated yet, the recall affects the sedan and the wagon.

VINs will not be updated until Monday June 6th. My dealer was completely clueless when I called. I had to send him the press release from Honda...

Thanks for the press links blacktsxwagon. Right now I have two Acura vehicles, '09 TL and '11 TSX Wagon and they are both covered by one of these recalls..hope these parts come in soon!

I believe recalls will be prioritized to occur in humid states prior to more arid areas, so areas like the Gulf region will get theirs replaced before say, Arizona. Don't expect parts availability until this fall at the earliest.

Not necessarily. Acura may have changed designs or airbag manufacturers for that part. The seat airbags on the 13's are Takata, but to date those haven't had any issues, but that does not mean that the driver or passenger airbags are affected.


One of the issues is that manufacturers often use different suppliers or what one would assume are similar systems. My Jaguar had Bosch, Osram and Lucas light bulbs from the factory (how do I know? Back then [pre- Ford], Jaguar was British owned and it was a given that anything electrical would fail within the first 12 months of ownership. I must have had a lemon, because it took almost 3 years before I had replaced every lightbulb in that car) and in some cases, manufacturers don't even know what parts are in what cars.

Apparently they are done replacing all driver's side airbags, so we are safe there. The later TSX passenger airbags may come out eventually but I kind of doubt it.
