alright, as we all know, grille options are quite limited for our 2nd gen tsx. i want to change the shield grille to one that flows a bit better, preferably with bars. after doing some thread digging and what not, i realize i have a few option to get rid of the buck tooth grille. i've done a grille opinion thread a while back, but now that we have a few more options i want to do it again.

1. paint match, cheapest way, but im not too sure if i really like it that much.




2. wait to see how c-mod grille turns out, although it's not looking very good (design wise)

3. do the HT grille since i already said i wanted one...but the back mesh is bothering me. so i was thinking maybe i'll just change the top/bottom mesh to the russian/german honey comb as shown:



4. do what our foreign friend, Drull did, and use the 3 bar grille and fabricate my own acura emblem in. as shown:







here is how it looks blacked out on a grigio (however this has honda emblem instead)








5. do a 2 bar grille, which is the 3 bar honda grille with middle cut out

ed i love how persistent you are on getting a new grille and these threads im sure are super useful for new members who are going through the same crisis as you. The lease on my car is up next year and im looking to do a straight swap for an OEM grille as I sold mine. If you are interested in a euro grille when the time comes, itd be an honor for you to inherit mine. I know it will be well appreciated and you will probably do some crazy nice shiet with it.

 

well, not that im looking at these again, im highly debating between 3 bar grille with acura emblem or HT grille with new mesh. my goal is to not rebadge, yet have a badge. so i guess c-mod, paintmatch, and 2 bar grille is out.

but give me your opinion anyways

Here's an idea... I've never seen one done yet, but take the 3 bar euro grill, instead of cutting out the middle bar, cut out the top and bottom bar leaving the middle with the emblem. Not sure how it'll look like, but I'm thinking something like the 07-08 tsx grill.
Try photoshopping that. It might look good.

Never been a big fan of open front grilles but I am really feeling the #3 option (HT grille). I think it would look good with carbon fiber wrap too.

 

What about a 2 bar grille with emblem in the middle. I know no matter what, I'm going to want the chrome emblem in the middle of my grille. Waiting for someone to do a photopoop of the 2 bar with emblem in middle...

Cutting top and bottom bar is actually not a bad idea, but I am afraid that the opening is so big the bar will look too thin.

And I'm with you mrstak. I know I want a silver Acura emblem no matter what, which is why I'm leanin towards the 3 bar grille with A emblem.

 

you forgot the option of how i did mine with the 09

paint match the outer grill and either flat black or cf vinyl the upper grill

 

ed. invest $25 for a paint matched 12oz aerosol spray can at www.expresspaint.com

paint some random shit, clear coat it, wet sand it and see if it paint matches your car

or you can spray plasti dip ($5) over your grill and paint match over the plasti dip. if you hate it, rip if off

 

If you cut out the top and bottom lines, the thicker middle line won't be the same as HT's grille so it should be okay. Maybe throw that idea out to C-Mod and see if they wanna go that route?

Does the spray can paint from expresspaint stick to the "bucktooth" of the grille? I feel like it'll come off easy?

 

lol defcon, i think ima give up the paint match idea, i think i like the bars grille more even though its more "dated"

you need to sand down the chrome so when you lay some epoxy primer, it has a better bite to it. its really all in the prep

if i do the middle bar only, i might as well just get the HT grille then lol. the 3 bar grille doesnt have a full back mesh i believe? so i'd have to get a separate back mesh. and plus, the bar seems a tad bit too thin

2 bars with big floating emblem isnt bad at all!

i think the easiest way for me would probably just do what Drull did, 3 bars and put A emblem and call it a day.

3 bar grill with the acura logo color matched will be the sickest. Like the mugen accord grill but for the TSX. I approve
