09-10 Acura TL SH-AWD 6MT Shift Knob on TSX?

Hey all,
I did a few different searches, and couldn't find anything on this. Does the 09-10 TL SH-AWD 6MT shift knob fit on the 2010 Acura TSX 6MT? I really love the TL shift knob, and would love to install it. Please let me know if this is doable or if anyone has pics or how-to's once it was done.

Also, if you know of any other shift knobs that look great, please let me know.

Cheers!

If I'm not mistaken, that's the same shift knob that comes on the European Accord, which is our car over in Europe. Probably fits just fine.

more specifics please what other after market shift knobs you are interested in. It'll help us help you if you specify any preferences in weight, size, shape, price etc.

I pretty much want a shift knob exactly like the TL SH-AWD 6-MT. Has anyone done this? Any pics?

if I remember correctly the euro shift knob for our cars is ridiculously over priced..so over priced that it just isn't worth it. I think it was close to 200?

This is member born2blaze's shift knob

That looks sweet! Has anyone in the states done this? Priced out the TL Shift knob, etc?
Cheers!

I just ordered the 2010 TL 6MT Shift knob for $54.00 from my local Acura dealer. He said the TSX has the exact same threads as the TL. Does anyone have a diagram on how to install and take off the shift knob on the TSX 6MT?
Cheers!

My dealer can order this too for around $50 but he isn't sure about needing the shift boot as well. Did you just order the knob and did the dealer say that was ok? Also, let me know how you finally install it because I am thinking about doing the same thing.

No problem bro. I just ordered the knob, and they said it will fit with no problem. If I'm not mistaken, I believe the TL-SHAWD 6MT boot area is larger than the TSX, not sure though. Is the leather boot the same as the TSX or different? I'm open to doing anything different if it'll fit and look nice. Let me know what you think.
Cheers!

Please post pics once you have it installed. I think you can get away with keeping the same boot on the TSX but I think there is a metal piece at the bottom of the TL knob that isn't on the TSX. I would think that it is either part of the knob itself or it comes with the TL's knob. Either way, if the dealer says it will work you should be ok.

TL shift know has a collar that locks into the shift boot, the TSX does not. While the threads may be the same and the knob will screw right on, it will require some customization to make the boot and the shift knob look well together.

Hey guys! The shift knob just came in today! It was $54.00 and looks GREAT. All I had to do to make it fit perfectly was to cut off the black plastic "collar" at the bottom of the TL shift knob. This allows the shift knob to sit perfectly in the same spot the OEM TSX shift knob sits. All you have to do is squeeze the top of the leather shift boot and pull down. This will detach the shift boot from the shift knob. Then a good hard twist, and off it comes. After you cut off the black collar on the bottom of the TL knob, you just screw it on, and presto...you have a TL shifter.
Below are pics of the original shift knob, and the new TL shift knob. Easy job, A+ results. I love it!
Cheers!

Congrats, looks awesome! Was it a clean cut to take the collar off, how'd you do it? Do you have to screw it on a certain way so that the gear labels on top line up correctly or are the threads already set to line up? I plan on ordering one soon. Thanks.

Yes, clean and straight across cut. Just used a saw to cut it straight across, easy as pie to do. The gears and threads line up perfectly. good luck!

Will the TL's shift boot fit the TSX? I ask because there's a silver collar that is attached to the top of the TLs boot that snaps directly into the TL knob. Has anyone replaced their boot and is it easy to do?

I didn't, and I don't know, but honestly don't see why it wouldn't fit. Both shifters appear to be about the same size, so the boot should fit....good call!

I have the OEM leather boot and shift knob installed on my car, it's a bit of work as you need to remove 10 clips to remove the centre console panel and then remove the shift boot from the centre console (4 self tapping screws).

I don't think the TL boot has the same mounting points for the 4 self tapping screws as the TSX, you may be able to modify it though. By the same token, you can simply change the silver collar over as the TSX black collar is held on by a simple wire tie.

Here's a pic of my shift knob and leather boot from Europe.

Tlzx9, what did you pinch at the top of the boot to pull it down? Does it require a lot of force? I tried and I can't feel any tabs, etc.

Hey bro, right where the leather meets the shifter, right under that is where I pinched and just pulled down. It came right off with no issues. I think the first time it might take a bit of force. Good luck! I LOVE THIS SHIFT KNOB!
