Wheel corrosion

Re 02 TL with about 80,000 kms on it.

Wheels are beginning to corrode. Acura has offered to pay half to fix. Our cost $550.

Anybody out there with similar experience?

Thanks

I've only noticed very slight corrosion on the inside of my Type-S wheels. Exactly where is the corrosion located? Nice to see that Acura is willing to meet you half way on your rim repair especially since it's an 02

They're nuts. $550 is your half? You can exchange your current wheels for refinished wheels for $125 a piece, or $150 and you can keep your wheels. I would call Acura and tell them about this place. I had my Racing Harts repaired there and they did a fantastic job.

I got spider veins started to spread under the clear coat on stock 16" TLP rims. Just bought slightly used 5zigen rims off black market for just $100 more than what you paid and keep those stock rims in storage until I sell my TL for the new GS350 in 2007-2008.

No, FN01R-C is what I bought from another guy. Anyone else know what is causing these spider veins, I am in California, so no road salt. I don't think dusts from stock pads are that corrosive.

The corrosion is on the inside lip - where you expect water to sit when parked. We were told the likely reason was:
1. Driving on gravel roads - we live in BC Lower Mainland
2. Environment - who knows
3. Not using Acura cleaning products - we use Mothers or Maguires
4. Automatic cars washes - we don't use

Had the car since new and other than this (and recently the cd player) it is has served us well.

LOL, are you kidding me, those 4 excuses have to be some of the most ridiculous excuses I have ever heard from a dealership. Driving on gravel roads! Not using acura cleaning products!! Automatic car wash!!!

Actually the cleaning product and car wash one came from Acura office in Toronto - the same individual that asked if these were aluminum wheels. Go figure.
