You're able to fit much more aggressive offsets on there, just no-one wants to do the "extreme modification" of rolling fenders and cutting tabs. lol.

If you're gutsy, you could fit a 8.5" width with a +37 offset. You'll have to run camber on it, but it will fit. I'm currently waiting for a set like this to pop up on memoryfab or jdmwheels so that i can get my sickness on.

But yeah, if you don't want to take the "hassle" to do the modifications needed for such an agressive offset..... what philly fresh said would work.....

Thanks phrost. I know flush is relative, but if it's not flush flush, it just doesn't look right to me.
By flush, I mean slammed, cambered to a nice tuck, and the rim sitting just millimeters from the fenderwall.

And believe me, I know many aren't up to it. I don't see what's so hard about renting a fender roller and doing it yourself, or even going the route of a rubber mallet to roll the fender with a high power blow dryer.... Call it ghetto if you will but them wheels will fit!!!

I wouldn't be surprised if you could fit a 8" width with a +32 offset, the only reason I say 8" is because I dunno if you'd have to roll more than -3 on the camber for it to fit, and no-one wants to hit a strut tower.

I don't mind making what I want fit. (19x8 +40) You don't see TSW Thruxtons on 2g TLs for that reason. I have seen 1 other one, but he was nowhere near as low as I am so he prolly didnt have to do anything but cut tabs.

I wanna know what exactly is "cutting the tabs"?
oh and another thing, can the offset if too small be fixed with spacers?

Circled in red is the area cut out to"cut tabs". The area in blue is an extra piece I had to remove due to my low offset and agressive drop. In yellow, is the lip of the fender. This is what you "roll", you roll it flat with the body so it doesnt stick out, makeing more room for clearance. I also had to do that.

And yes, if the offset is too high you can correct it with spacers, but it is also reccomended you get longer studs for this as well. Hope this helps.

adding spacers makes the rim stick out more so you add it if the offset is too high, like 02type-s have said.

Our bolt pattern is 5x144.3 and the wheel size all depends on offset and width.

so basicly if the offset is too small you are F****D, and offset can be only fixed if its too high?and thanks for the photo makes things alot more clear.

We are on the same page then bro!! Cutting the tabs, and rolling fenders is real easy..Im not sure why people here like the sunken in wheel look!? I like the rim poking a lil bit passed the fenders, tires tucked behind it.. You can try a bunch of fitments but you gotta be slammed.. On coils its safe to say, you can run a 9" up front 9.5" rear...Or you can just run straigh 9"s all around, do your math with the offsets to figure out where youll sit flush....

Actually the bolt pattern is 5x114.3

TLP/CLP wheels: 16x6.5 +55
TLS wheels: 17x6.5 +55
CLS wheels: 17x7 +55

I know, Mista Juice already pointed out my typo for me. And he was refering to custom wheels, not oem. (he asked about 18s)

Tabs- def yes. Rolling fenders- yea, but its easier if you have a fender roller ($175) and im sure you have a hair dryer.

Oh man, I hope we're breeding a new set of Gen2 TL owners with the talks of wide/low offset wheels.

I'm with prhost, I can't stand high offset wheels because of the sunken in look.

I will do my best to find the most aggressive width/offset I can find when I do wheels. I want as much lip as possible. Sure it'll need a fender roll and tab cutting, but that's child's play compared to what I've seen people do to get wheels to fit on cars.

hehe, glad I could help. Flush wheels just look better, and with more width, more traction (on dry pavement).Rolling fenders and cutting tabs isn't hard, and its well worth it for the look you get in the end.

I can't stand it when ppl call it "major body/metal modification". lol if that is "major" to you maybe you should leave your car stock. All you are doing in bending a piece of unused metal out of the way, it takes MAYBE 10-15 min per side. As long as the metal is warm, the paint should stretch and not crack.

For my wheels, there were two offset choices available, 40 and 42. I of course opted for the 42, but how can I make sure they really ordered the correct ones? They are 16x7 TSW Catalunya wheels.

it should be stamped or molded into the back of the wheel somewhere.

Also with it being a 16x7 you shouldnt have any issues.

Thanks, I'll check them out when I remove them to mount my winter tires on my OE wheels.

I wanted to go with a 225 size summer tire next season, but as it is now, with the new wheels the tires are about flush with the fender. I don't want them actually sticking out beyond the wheel well (running 215/55R16).
