when I was driving home today after about 30mins or so when I was slowing down and had my stereo turned way down. I hear this strange wooshing sound coming from one of my front tires, think it was the front driver side tire, but not sure. When I get home I see these greyish line on my sidewalls on the front two tires about 5-6 straight grey lines straight as ruler. I think the tires are shit, they are newer than my rears which are in very good shape still after 45k+ miles on them. MY fronts are Kuhmo ecstas and so are the rears, different sidewall design though because of age difference in tires, both are same type of tire. Any ideas on what problem may be?

 

c'mon someone has got to have an idea or a suggestion, please I need some help here.

 

Sounds like sidewall of the tire is separating due to incorrect load rating, overloading or low tire pressure.

i brought the tire pressure to 33 psi on all 4(they were all pretty close accept for passenger side rear was at 21.5 psi) and still there is a swooshing sound, hasn't changed. do you think a rim could possibly be warped slightly and is causing this noise. I also get a very slight shudder when my car is at 60-65mph and then at 85mph, but in between no shudder and after 85mph no shudder. I got a full alignment done recently too. any other suggestions? all when you refer to load rating what exactly is that?

 

i need some help, problem still persists and I cannot detect anything from inspecting my wheel, other thank strange silver lines running straight down the sidewall in all directions.

 

Best bet is to take it to a tire shop to have the tire dismounted and inspected. Better safe than sorry.
