Offset Question

If I stick with the stock wheel and tire sizes, do I need to be concerned with the offset distance? If so, what am I looking for? Will 35-40 mm work? Thanks.

Thanks, that I knew. I just need to know how little offset will work on the factory size wheel and tire.

If you have 17x6.5 and 215/50/17, you can get away with +42 offset or higher.

You might be able to sneak in a +40 if you're not lowered

I have Toyo Proxi TPT, 205/60/16 with the factory 16 x 7 rim. The tires have only 5k miles on them and I just want a new wheel for them. All the 16 x 7 wheels I am looking at have an offset between 35-45 mm. Will this cause any problems.

Stick to +45 offset or higher to avoid rubbing and extra stress on your bearings.

First off, I believe the factory wheel is 6.5 inches. If you're going to go through the hassle and spend money on new tires, why not get something larger? If your new tires are your concern, I'd just wait till you need new ones.

Why?? Why do I need bigger tires and wheels? I know everyone does it but, why? Looks? Performance? Before I think about bigger, tell me why.

Ok. If I go bigger. What do I need to look for in order to get the proper fit and not effect the speed?

Thanks for all the help!!!

It doesn't matter if the the wheel is bigger, so long as the overall diameter is still the same, (or close to).

Here is a link that explains it pretty well.

Stock Tires Size Offset ??

I know the offset on my 2000 TL is +55. My question is, how little of offset can I get away with. Seems it is very difficult to find 16" wheels with offset higher than +45. Will +40-45 cause any problems? Thanks.

BTW....Going with a bigger wheel is not an option. I want to stick with the 205/60/16.

Looking at Tirerack and Tires.com, they all recommend 16 x 7 wheels with offsets from +38 and up. Are they wrong?

why bother to change if you just want a 16?

the stock is gd enough, unless u want 17 or 18"

the offset you should stay about +47

The stock is good enough for what? I just want a better looking wheel. Is that a problem?

if you are spending the money why not atleast plus size 1 or 2? the over all cost isnt going to be much if any of a difference.
+38 is way to low. i personaly wouldnt drop below a +47 no matter what size i was running

But, will I not give up ride quality with going to a bigger wheel. I do not want a rigid ride.

I am looking at some 17" and 18" packages on ebay. Are BSA and Ikon good brands? I have been able to find some offsets on BSA and they offer +45. I have not been able to find any on the Ikon wheels. Does any one know anything about these?
