staggered wheels question
so i finally dumped my car and im looking on getting 19s on front and 20s on back of my 02 tls.. has anyone done this.. if so what size wheels and tires.. i want a about a 1 in lip on front and maybe a 2 inch lip on back if posibile.. doesn anyone have pics or any info of this.. thanks everyone
Why would you want a staggered setup on a FWD car? 20s can be done ... but you will be 4x4 (no way you can lower your car on 20s). If you want deep dish (ie lip) ... make sure the offset is high (+48 or more). I know Axis Mod Se7ens have a lip. Good luck.
just for show.. thats the only reason i want to have the 20"s on back.. i know its not going to help me since the cars fwd.. thanks for the info tho.. anymore help would be great

i would go no on the staggered, even if for show...it would just straight up look weird. usually just the width and offsets are adjusted, not the size of the whole rim. 19x8 fronts and 19x9 in back. i'm just sayin, don't go and do it though
my tl has a crazy offset on the wheels, makes it look like it has a deep dish, but its hard to find rims with a +55 offset
let me know if u wanna see some pics.

Lower offsets doesn't always mean that there will be a lip. It is all dependent on the wheel design. But traditionally speaking, a higher offset will lessen the probability of a large lip.
If staggered is what you're looking for, I say go for it.

You are absolutely right ... you need LOW offset to get major lip. However, if you do that for our high offset cars, you will have rims stick out way beyond the wheel wells and get all sorts of other issues (rubbing, etc). The only set of rims I know that has a 'deep dish' and a high offset are Axis Mod Se7ens.
I just wanted to warn this guy if he wants a deep dish, his choices are limited for our applications.
Thanks for correcting me.

Hey mkomaee,
You also proved me wrong with 20" rims ... I guess you can be lowered on TL/CL. Any issues with rubbing? I don't venture over to the CL forum very often. I've only seen some (horrible) applications of 20s on a TL from time to time.
i dont think im much of a fan for the Axis Mod Se7ens.. im shooting for iforges or GFG 1-5 of some DPE R05 Variant S rims.. but who knows.. i guess ill call up iforged and see if they got any aplications with high offsets with our car.. thanks everyone..

yeah a bigger rim is usually heavy so you will lose some acceleration from stop light....but the 9.5 is for the rear, front i order 8.5...is for looks....if is all performance nobody would want to buy matrix...
I would do staggered, but.... I would never do 20's...... I'd do probably 19x7.5 front and 19x8 back.... although I know someone who has 19x8.5's on front and back... boku i think. He has one of the sickest rims for our 2nd gen, Axis Milanos (same as Trafficstar/Maya DTS). I wonder if his the guy that works at stereo place on corner of El Camino and 237 that I saw today... Anyway, my opinion is go staggered if you want, I would if I could roll out 3 bills for my Trafficstars.

On an integ drag machine with like 400Whp.... I wouldn't do it if I were you.

A pic to show you. Look closely at the rear fender. The rim sits flush with the fender. It is up to you if you want to take the risk.. If you run a 235 tire to protect the rim (the rubber is literally stretched onto the rim) it will rub for sure in the front. In the rear it is questionable.

[/img]Finally, do I recommed staggared rims with different sizes and offsets? NOpe. too many variables without the trials. You can see that an 8.5" wide is a tight fit. TommyGSR is running 9" with a +55 offset. You may want to try that. It will be a tight fit too. Good Luck.

you could have a same size wheel front and back. but a high disk (less lip)wheel for the front and low disk (more lip)rear for that staggered look...but is actually same width front and back...this is available if you are doing high end wheels.

Are you prepared for the ridicule you will receive when car enthusiasts see what you've done? The purpose of the wider wheel in the rear is for traction in rear-wheel-drive cars.
I'm still confused why you think this is cool?
Maybe I'm just old.

Thpse Foose Speedsters look really nice on your CL man... Staggered rims/tires are meant for RWD cars only. GFG or are gunna cost you like $900-1200/rim for 19s/20s. I gotta nice 3 1/2 inch lip on my rims and their 20x7.5 wrapped in Nitto ExtremeZRs.
