On a 2nd gen TL, 8.5 is too wide and 9.5 is just plain stupid without a major fender remodel.

If you really want the staggered look (which I think is just plain stupid on a FWD car, go with 7.5" +48 offset in the front and 8" +50 offset in the back.

really just depends on how you look at it. if you just want the "look" of staggered wheels, why not just get the same width wheel all around but vary the offsets a bit in the rear.

not necesaraly....most VW (jettas and golf specially) look really nice w/ staggered wheels and TONS of people make them for fwd cars and offsets that'll work on the TL. mini cooper on staggered... most hondas will look better on 5 or 7 spoke rims IMO. but yeah, a g35, Z or bmw with nice wide staggered rims and a chromy lip = sex

But yeah, Staggered wheels do look good but in this game of modifying cars there's basically 2 schools of thought, Show-B4-Go and Go-B4-Show. I personally adhere to the latter of the two but to each his own. The problem lies when the "show" compromises the "go" (ie 50lb wings, cut springs, or staggered wheels on a front engine front wheel drive car.) Unfortunately there are limits to what we can do with our ff TL's, things that look good on other cars just don't work on ours. But as stated above: its your car, do with it what u will.
BTW: I want a car that can fly but u wont see me strapping wings to it and driving it off a cliff (not this year at least.)

Anyways GL with whatever u decide

I still trying to figure out how it is possible to fit 18x8 and 18x8.5 without serious rubbing issues unless there is extensive fender and bumper rework.

i think most of us here is going for the looks....if i am all out performance why would i even put 17" or 18" wheels...infact i will put 16" and it doesn't even have to look nice...i sold quite a bit of staggered wheels on fwd...it might be retard to some of you but all the owners who bought a custom made staggered wheels from me is for looks only...each of those 19" wheels is over 30 lbs each...

just get a wheel with same dimension but different disk will achieve the staggered look

here is a pic of staggered look wheels

both front and back wheels are 19x8 same offset....but the front is regular disk and rear is super low disk....kinda hard to tell but you can see the lip at the back is bigger....of course if you want more you must buy staggered wheels

Staggered wheels look nice on cars, but serve little purpose on a FWD car.

Yes, its your money, and yes you can do with your car as you please. So by all means.

But mind you, it's really hard to find wheels with the correct offset for out cars and the wider the wheels you want in the back, the harder it will be to find correct offsets. That will be your biggest limiting factor.

Oh and you'll most likely get weird looks from people who know a thing or two about cars. I know I always look twice when I see staggered wheels on a FWD. Kinda lame IMO...

Staggered wheels are for RWD cars.

What kind of rims are those?? Looks like it tucks in kind of nice. I think staggered on rear wheel drives look better since you have more options for lip sizes, our 2nd Gen TL wheel setups are limited just finding wheels that fit right without rubbing, but to go staggered is a whole other issue. This setup looks very nice. My big issue with staggered is excessive tire wear since you can't rotate them front to back to even out wear.
