Short Review: H&R Sport
Well,
Finally got the H&R sports on, the install was only 4.5 hours, so it wasn't too bad. Everything fit properly, no major holdups. We did, however, buy a can of PB Blaster, but it was used once.
As a precursor, be aware that I kept the stock shocks with over 115k miles. Also, we cut between 3/4 and an inch off of each bump stop on the stock shocks. This allows the stock shock a greater amount of travel which reduces the bounce-feel.
I expected a harsh, bouncy ride that you see in cheap civics, but I was relieved when I took the first ride. The ride is nearly as smooth as stock, just with more feel for the road and a huge decrease in body roll. I recommend this springs to anyone who is looking for a nice drop and who wants to keep the luxury ride. Granted yes, there is a SMALL difference at higher speeds (ie. 95 and up) when going over bumps and road changes; however, the difference is not jarring, as I have read previously.
Ultimately, I can't believe that I have gone this long without the springs.
If you have any questions about the drop, feel free to ask.

i cant recall the part number off my head, but they ARE the ones with the "sagging problem"... im just not going to put a system in the trunk, no worries. i havn't "measure" persay, but its 1.5 fingers front and 1 finger in the rear... haha :theghey:

So you cut the bump stops? My installer said that we needed to leave them alone but some HR sport applications require the trim, the TL isn't one of them? I'm curious if yours rides smoother because of the bump stop trim.

Cutting the bump stops didnt change the ride of the car. They are there for when you bottom out the shock

exactly, which is what prevents the bounciness. when you hit the bump stop, its a jolt through the whole car, which causes an immediate recoil. its the same thing if you think about a tennis ball, the harder you throw it against the wall, the harder it will bounce off.

Yeah, I got the 50103 updated springs and the instructions clearly said not to cut them. I am pleased with my ride on my HR's, but it is a bit stiffer, especially on expansion joints and roads that have bumps similar to mini speed bumps...it does look a hell of a lot better lowered though, the factory fender gap is horrible. I wish our cars had the suspension setups of BMW coupes, hardly any fender gap right off the lot for the non AWD models. Sounds like you had a good install...great job!

Does anyone know if the Tein coilovers have this feeling over the large bumps and the expansion joints? Lot of people are loving their Teins and just curious if they have these issues.

So you don't have a different feeling going over a bump at 70 on the highway? Does it feel a little harsher then stock? How about the expansion joints on highways, do they feel stiffer?

yes, hitting uneven pavement, such as in a construction zone on the highway, is rougher, but in no way jarring. everything is just tighter and ore performance oriented as opposed to the sloppy, stock suspension. i dont feel that there are any downfalls to H&Rs, not to mention im still using stock shocks with over 117k miles.
