Rims...which Ones Do I Get? Help

To make a long story short my dad will only let me get 16's for my 99 TL and my stocks are messed up cuz the clear coat is peeling off.. Which is bad, but is also good cuz it gives me an excuse right lol? Now, I know most of these you probably wouldnt get for yourself, but to help me with my decision I'd like you to tell me which ones you'd get if you had to choose. The styles are below. Please tell me which ones you like. (Oh yeah and I'll prolly get a drop so that part doesn't matter), and if it helps you out theres a picture of my TL below...it' SSM.

Here ya go:

It looks like you have plans to drop your TL in the future as noted in your sig. That being the case, two things you should consider are the offset and the rim width. If the offset is too low and the rim width is too wide, then you may have to deal with major rubbing in the future when you drop your car, unless you plan on modifying your fenders. Do you know the specs on these wheels?

These are my options as far as replacing the stock rims for these 16s go, but I'm trying to work a deal out with my dad to try and get at least 17s. The most my dad is willing to pay is $500 tops, but I think I can work out a deal for more. Any ideas on a combination of rim or rim/tire package that would be good for him to consider?

As far as the offset and rim width goes, I have not really looked into that yet. I'm trying to find a design/style that suits my wants and needs, but yes I do plan on considering that in the future, but I'm not sure if really want to spend a crap load on springs. You have an idea of what I can do? I'd like to hear your ideas.

Thanks for following up.

Don't rush a decision like I did my first try, wait till you get a good deal, and try to save up some more money. I still have the first set of rims I bought for my car off of Ebay, I never even put them on. A waste of about $500, then I got a unbeatable deal, for 450 I picked up my set of ASA AR1's 18" with good tires but that was pretty much a once in a lifetime deal.

I don't know what you are going to get, but I know this...DO NOT get anything that has a lip. It will make your rim look miserably small. Get something like Rage Raven.

Mesh 16's will look terribly small. I agree that a lip on 16's also looks even smaller (i know from experience). Personally since you're stuck @ 16's i would go with the Ravens, kinda remind me of the 16" 07 Civic rims I just put on

Damn that sucks...only 16's. lol, tell your dad that you want a set of OEMs and get the TL-S wheels. Only an inch bigger but it's still OEM Honestly, i'm not really feeling any of those wheels. Try to search some more styles before you have to rely on those.

out of those rims i would say these......

Rage Raven - Silver
Rage Reactor - Silver

just because they don't have a lip and any rim that has a lip looks smaller.....and since you can only go for some 16" i say these....

also check out these they are a little bit more expensive but from a much better company....

You should really save up some of your own money and get a bigger size - at least the Type S rims (17")
Most rims don't even look good at 16" - especially on a 4 door car. Go 18's or 19's - maybe get used ones from the black market or ebay - you wont be spending that much more

Which New Rims Do I Get? Opinions Wanted

Well, I have just narrowed my search for new rims down to just two and I don't mind getting 17" rims from my local discount tire store so here are the two rims I will be choosing from for my 99 TL-P: (Note: Both rims would be 17" and be mounted with Kumho 711 High Performance Tires). *They're two of the packages Discount Tires offers...

Which one is best, in your mind? Or which one would you get over the other? Please pick one for me. I don't really need to know about alternative rim options. I'm gunna choose one of these...In all likely hood.

MB Wheels Seven X - Chrome - 17" OR...

Enkei PKR - Black Machined - 17"

Please help me choose...

What color is your car? It would make a difference depending on the color.

The chrome ones. I dunno if this is going to make sense, but low-even-numbered-spoked rims always look rice to me. I don think a wheel should look like it has 2 halves. I dunno....confusing right? Ah forget it, either way I'd take the chromies due to the style, and I even hate chrome.

I love 5 and 7 spoke rims, then I will go for dual 10 spokes but no even #s under 10.

I agree but get the CL Type S wheels since they are 17x7, not 17x6.5 like the TL-s wheels

You can get the here on the black market or on ebay. Discount Tire can also get them. In fact, I have a Type S and got mine chrome exchanged...I have 19's on mine though now! 17's are for long road trips and winter.
