Question: Different wheel widths--front and back

So I am in the market in buying a pair of tires for the two that have worn out on my car. I currently have the 2000 TL on Type-S OEM wheels with Michelin MXM4 tires (size 215/50/17).

I am looking to buy two Michelin MXM4 (same brand and model) but with size 225/50/17. My guess is that the few millimeters will not be beneficial nor harmful to my car (which I am totally cool with) but I wanted to know your opinions.

If I do get these and if it is alright for my car, should I mount the wider tires in the rear (because its newer) or in the front (because more traction)? Also, while I am on this topic, will it be a problem when it comes time for tire rotations?

Definitely appreciate your help.

you should just stick to the same size tire both front and back.

I would lean towards putting your new tires in front for more traction but I am curious why you don't want to buy the same size tire as you have?

Eh, it was just a deal that was offered on a pair of 225s. Instead, I think I am going to just find a pair of 215s somewhere
