Not even close.8.5" rims is a
on the 2nd gen TL unless you can find something with around a +53 offset. Even then you run the risk of rubbing on the suspension. The optimal setup is: 19x8 +50 with 235/35/19 tires.
if i got 18x7.5 with 50 0ffset would it make a difference compared to the 48 offset. im lowered all the way on the teins and i wanna get some 18s and not raise the car up. the guy said he can get 50 but i saw vltec wheels and he's slammed with 48 and no problems. another one of my friends said 50 would look too weird in the wheel well, like the wheels would be in too much. what do u think?

what about a staggered setup ?
My opinion is staggered setups are ONLY for RWD cars. Be prepared to get flamed here if you do it.

Maybe I'm not understanding this but since the rubbing issue is primarily with the rear wheels, that's where you'd need the bigger offset and therefore you'd have less of a lip, if any, therefore a staggered setup on a 2G TL would look really bad.
What am I not getting?
What is the objective with doing a staggered setup on a 2G TL?
