This is my second season of running the Dunlop M3 on the OEM 17" rims. I figure I'll get 3 seasons out of them, I just put them on today. I already miss my 18" aspec rims ... but you can't beat the M3s for winter.

I like their performance on snow covered as well as dry and wet roads and they are not loud for a snow tire either.

i got blizzaks. i havn't had a complaint yet. some complain about them not being rated over like 110 but thats plenty fast for winter tires. handles kinda mushy in the dry but are amazing in the snow.

i can get the Blizzaks for 125 each, mounted..
if the dunlops dont cost too much more than that, i might give those a shot instead.

I ran 225/50/17 Blizzak LM22s on my 2004 TL. I had no complaints.

I run 225/50/17 Dunlop Wintersport M3s on my M3. I am very happy with them.

Dunlop Graspic DS-1

I got rid of the Michelin MXV4 A/S on my 16's (winter rims) for the Dunlop Graspic DS-1. I saw them on the Wal-Mart Auto Center for around $100/ tire. The closest size/ load I can get was 215/55/16 93Q.
It has a bit of a "bouncy" ride with the cracks of the road more pronounced. With the kind of winters here at Toronto, IMO I don't think there is point for performance winter tires since black ice would be all over the place. There is too much temperature variance from one place to another.
I felt I lost a bit of steering "feel" but traction was definitely way better, especially on snow and slush. I don't see the VSA light that often now. Also there is the inherent "hum" that is common on winter tires with aggressive tread patterns.

I agree the Blizzaks are a bit squishy on the dry, but they work well in the snow- it's only mid December and in NJ, we've already had 3 snowstorms (normally doesn't snow until January at the earliest).

Yeah, I saw these at Wal-Mart as well. But I didnt get them because these were old (2000) and they didnt have the DS-2. I thought to myself, I rather pay $12 more for each tire to get something that is ranked one of the best winter tires. But overall I was seriously considering the DS-1.

The point of a performance winter tire is for cars/drivers that demand better handeling out of their tires. Black ice has nothing to do with winter tires and wether or not they are performance or not. The M3 are superb on ice. They give up some deap snow traction, but will out corner and brake most in the snow.

Get the Hakka Q. Great tire. Too bad they don't make them in 17s. I'll probably go with the Dunlop M3 (or its upgrade) when my Nokians go.

since we had a few snowstorms, "uping" this topic would be appropriate.
