Smile New here, need advice, yes I've searched.

Hello everybody, been reading upon this forum a bit since I got my 2000 TL a few weeks ago.
I am planning on getting DC Sports Headers, AEM V2 intake, and Eibach sway bar kit.
Now my only confusion on selections is lowering springs, since there are a lot more options than for other parts it seems lol.
I want a moderate drop, but want to maintain as much ride quality as possible (daily driver), and not worry about scraping my bumpers, especially my rear as my driveway is on a hill with a sidewalk, and often have an adult in the back. I've been looking at the Tien H.Tech springs. Right now I have stock rims with 215/55s on em. I may in the future go up to 17' rims but never bigger. I do love the look of wide tires on the back though. No plans for body kits, unless it doesn't hang low and is tasteful (haven't looked at many yet as it's far down the road)
Are the H.Techs my best bet? I am worried it won't give me enough drop that I'm looking for, but again, I must maintain clearance issues.
Also, I live in Cali, the V2 intake and DC headers are are CA legal right? I've seen conflicting answers around.
Thanks and nice to meet you all!

Hmm, don't seen an edit button....
Also, I don't want to deal with a camber kit, dropping under 2 inches in the front should avoid the need correct? I believe I read that in another few threads.

Hey! welcome!

dropping under 2inches all around would not introduce major camber, so you wont need a camber kit.

Thanks!, I remember reading that somewhere, but better safe than sorry. My main concern is 1. Will a 1.5 front an 1 inch drop really make a noticeable difference in appearance, 2. will I have problems with bumper scraping?
And to avoid starting another thread, like I said before, I am getting mixed messages about the California Legality of DC headers and AEM V2 intake.

as Justn said a mild drop wont affect your camber as much....if you are getting "springs" to drop (1-2inches) then you wont need a camber kit, and there will be no rubbing/etc....

now if you get coilovers and lower her a lot more then camber kit is a good idea and depending on your rims/tires/offset, you might need to pull and or roll your fenders....

a 1.5-2 inch drop does look very good....a friend of mine is dropped on Teins S -tech (he has a 3G Type S thow) and his car looks very very nice with that drop....so in short, yes a ~1.5inch drop will make a difference in the overall appearance of the car

The H-techs won't give you a noticeable drop. Go for the Tein S-techs or Eibach Pro Kit.

However, according to many experienced members here, it seems that the best spring/shock combo would be the H&R Sport with Koni Yellows. The H&Rs won't drop you as much as the S-techs or Pro Kit though.

Also keep in mind that the springs/shocks/coilovers from 98-02 Accord, 01-03 CL, and 99-03 TL are all interchangeable.

I say go with H&R sport springs, 1.75"f and 1.5" rear. Dc headers are not carb legal, not sure about aem intake. If they are carb legal there should be a sticker that came with it.

Ok so looks like the S.Tech are what I'll be getting until further research on the H&R. Or since I am getting the Eibach swaybars I could just get their 4.1740.880 sport plus kit.
So being in Cali pretty much means I'm screwed on Headers?

^ not really...

headers for this car is rather easy to swap from aftermarket to stock imo...

first install took me awhile only because the nuts were semi seized.. but reverting back to OEM after that was easy.

How easy? lol
Foreign cars are, well, foreign to me lol.
I don't even know how the headers attach to the rest of the exhaust lol. Is it it 3 bolt flange? I guess I may as well not worry, as I'm not due for smog til 2014 LOL

plenty of room in the engine bay to work with.. thats what makes it easy imo. haha

2 2 bolt flanges that connect exhaust manifold to j-pipe/front pipes and front pipe to catalytic converter is 3 bolt flange

If he has the newest design headers it's 3 bolt flange from exhaust manifold to j pipe and 3 bolt flange to catalytic converter.

I have h&r sport springs with kyb agx adjustable shocks and eibach sway bars. I have almost no lean and corners and it is not to stiff for everyday driving. I have a lip kit and barely make it out of my driveway without scraping the front, which is part of the reason why I didn't want to go lower than I am

Due to continuous seeing them suggested, if I can find them at a reasonable price, I will be going with H&R springs. Question is, do I want the 51858, or the 50103? As their application guide says the 50103 is for '02-03. And I've read the 51858 was designed for the accord, causing lag in the TL's. Does this apply to my 2000 TL, and are the 50103 compatible with my TL?

Oh, and let's not forget it's my DD and would like to sacrifice as little ride comfort as possible. And yes, I will sometime in the future have 100+ pounds of audio equipment in the trunk lol

thats right.. I forget... the new DC Sports headers are 3, 3 bolt flanges

springs from 02-03 TL will fit 99-01 as well.

I have the 50103 because I go out out of town alot so I put stuff in the trunk and have passengers. If you plan on getting audio equipment get the 50103 otherwise it will sag to much.

Got everything installed. Eibach Pro Kit, Tokico Blue struts on front, Illumina on rear. HUGE difference in appearance. I'm quite happy with it. And got everything for under $400

The tires are excellent for an all season, they're quiet and smooth, and I feel safe on them in the rain. They grip and handle well. They are too soft for hard fast cornering, but obviously they aren't meant for that lol. They only have about 2k miles so I can't comment on longevity or performance changes with wear.
