Need rotors & pads!

I'm due for new rotors and pads as of right now. I just want to know what my fellow Acurazine members would recommend for me other than OEM...?

Go to the sponsored section and check out Brakemotive. He has a good deal on drilled slotted rotors and pads f/r for a hell of a deal

I suppose I dont really have a budget but I don't want any big brake kit. I do however want quality parts that would be an investment to my braking system. I never heard of Wearever rotors nor Wagner pads Flipster23, are those American products? I just want some better rotors and pads than OEM. I also read here on the boards that Brembo rotors and OEM pads were a nice combo...any thoughts?

The STOPTECH/Powerslot combination we offer is a great setup. It includes Powerslot/STOPTECH slotted rotors, which feature a power alloy compound with a curved vane construction for the front rotor. They also have a black e-coating on the hubs and vanes. The pads are STOPTECH performance pads, which are a para-aramid compound. They are a low dust, low noise pad with good initial bite and great long-term performance. And it is reasonably priced.

I use OEM pads, and I got 75K out of each set...and about 5K miles ago just changed the front rotors for plain (not slotted or drilled) Centrix units.

Still have the OE rear rotors (turned once), 170K miles.

I have ebay Brakelab's drilled only front rotors on my 00 TL wc were just installed 2 days ago. They look great and theres a written 1 yr warranty on warpage & cracks so this sounds like a good deal for me. Still too early to pass judgement on it but this coming summer trips should be the acid test. Hope it lasts.

The warranty should cover warpage and cracks as workmanship and material defect, I think.

May I ask what type of rotors did you just install?
Slotted and/or drilled?
I just installed drilled only rotors a few days ago and
so far am happy with them. I should comment on them again at least before a year passes.

PBR axxis ultimates the most baddass brakes ive had ever.

edit: for rotors, i cant stress it enough BLANKS BLANKS BLANKS! stay away from drilled, slotted, guttered (or whatever the new marketing scheme is)

why stay away from drilled and/or slotted?

just wanna hear your reasoning. my EBC slotted rotors are warped and the Yellow Stuff pads are past 50% wear. i installed the setup back in July '10 and did the proper bed-in procedure.

im thinking about just replacing them with Brembo blanks.

i feel bad for quoting frm H-T but its an informative read; http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=1437513

trust me theres tons of info out there even from brake manufactures that advise against drilled slotted rotors

interesting read. thanks for the link!

im pretty much sold on the Brembo blanks. i should have gone with them the first time around. but like most people i went with slotted rotors for the "cool factor." now 6000 miles later, i am already needing new brake pads and rotors resurfaced.

do slotted rotors eat away at the pads? i can imagine each time the pad passes over a slot, an extremely small layer of it is literally peeled off of the pad similar to the action of a vegetable peeler.

thank you, Skilzz, 03tlsnbp, & Flipster23. I suppose I will just go with Brembo blanks for rotors. As for pads still need to figure out what to use OEM.....

for pads i have heard about good results with:

EBC Red Stuff
Rotora ceramic
Racingbrake ET300
Hawk ceramic (little expensive)
Akebono ceramic
and i guess Axxis Ultimates too now since it was mentioned earlier in this thread.

those are just some to consider. there are probably more excellent pads that i dont know about.

i dont know how much the more expensive pads are worth getting though. all i know is that im not spending $300 (including install) on just front brakes ever again.
