need new tires...

ok so i did a search and didn't come up with anything (maybe i'm blind)... couple of questions...
1. a couple of my tires need to be replaced and this is the first time getting new tires since i sold my tahoe and picked up the TL... SO, is it fine to just get 2 new tires (different then the remaining 2), or to replace them 4 at a time.
2. my friend can get me a good deal on any MAXXIS tires... anybody have a good suggestion for a all season maxxis tire that does well on snow and ice?

thanks for any feedback fellas it's much appreciated!

I don't have any suggestions on Maxxis tires, but depending on how much your looking to spend, you can get good tires for around the $100 range. I just got a new set, these were the ones I looked at.
Kumho Ecsta ASX
Yokohama AVID V4S
Yokohama AVID W4S
Continental ContiExtremeContact
Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season <-tirerack has a $50 rebate when you buy 4 tires.

I ended up with teh Yokohama W4S's. I had the OEM tires, Continentional XtremeContacts and now the Yokohama's. Yokohama's were the best tires I've owned.

I'm running the Ecsta ASX's, they've been working just fine for me!

Check out tirerack.com, you can read the user reviews. I believe you can even limit the reviews for Acura specific ones. That should help you out quite a bit.

Goodyear Eagle F1 AS is awesome. Very sticky when dry and wet. Haven't had the chance to test it out in the snow yet. Very firm sidewall.

Kumho ASX is great when dry but soft sidewall so your car will lean a bit when going around a curve. Great in dry condition but lose traction when wet as tread wears down. Not that great in snow.

I have Pirelli Tires because the owner before me bought them. I have put about 17k on them and I honestly can barely see a difference in them. They are VERY long lasting and super silent on the highway.

I have had Kumho's ASX and SPT, I strong recommend the SPT's over the ASX. They are stickier and rides quieter than the ASX, Fuzion ZRi's are really good also my brother has those on his TL-S and he liked them

MAXXIS' best all-season high-performance tire is their relatively new MA-Z4S Victra. From the tread design, it appears it will give good dry & wet and average-low snow and ice traction.

Dunlop makes a variety of tires in their "signature" line. I'd only consider the "SP Sport Signature," which is a high-performance all-season tire, and did pretty well against similar tires in its category:
