Lowering Advice

I am going to be getting 18" rims for my TL I want to lower my car but I am trying to find the best compromise between looks and ride comfort and driveability. I have already decided on the rims now it is just a matter of what to do for the suspension. I am shooting for more of a lux look and not really trying to have a faster or better handling car as I am not a crazy or speedy driver and I am very satisfied with the stock performance. I am a complete noob to modifying anything on my cars and was curious what else I would need to do other then springs so give me a as much info as possible. All help is greatly appreciated.

Borrowing from some of the sticky's if you could give me the info in this format with pics if available it would help me alot

So if you guys could recommend something let me know.

Brand and type

Amount of drop it provides

what you feel the ride quality reduction was from stock

if any further mods would need to be made to prevent rubbing

Well before anything, just how low do you want to go? I understand you dont want a huge performance set up or whatever but you could be real low and still have almost OEM smooth ride depending on what you buy. Do you want to almost tuck the rims/tires? 1 or 2 finger gap between tire and fender? bigger gap? Once you provide more details like that we could help you out a little more. That way we don't recommend things you won't even consider getting

lets say 1 or 2 finger gap and the ability to clear a curb as far as ride height..

What do you mean by tuck? But I definitely want smooth ride and aesthetic appeal i dont like the way the car looks once on bigger rims I just wish most of the pics in the rim spec thread werent broken links

By tuck I meant if you want the car low to the point that the tire tucks inside the fender. For a 1-2 finder gap I would say depending on the rims/tires you get, you will need about a 1.5"-2" drop.

* Tein H. Tech springs / H&R Sport springs (either one with Tokico Blue struts)
* 2.1"f - 1.6"r / 1.75"f - 1.5"r
* Ride should be a bit more firm than stock, but not bouncy like other cheap brand springs.
* Rubbing will depend on your rims and tire size. First: what is the rim size/width/offset and what is the tire size? With the examples I gave you, most people dont have problems rubbing and the ones that do is because of the tire size. They simply cut the tabs out of the back bumper and problem fixed.

One more thing, you could also get that same drop height and possibly smoother ride with coilovers but I'm assuming you don't want to spend more than %600 on suspension, just a nice set up that gets the job done (if im wrong just let me know lol)
