Coilovers are better for all of the reasons you've stated.
When you buy springs and use them with your stock struts, your struts will wear down sooner because they're not meant to be run on a lower height.
When you buy aftermarket springs to pair with aftermarket struts, the struts will last longer, but again, the springs and struts were not designed to work specifically with each other, meaning there is better performance to be had in terms of your suspension (i.e., dampening/rebound).
So, I recommend coilovers. They are a spring/shock combo that is designed from the outset at the factory to be used specifically with each other. Therefore, coilovers are always the way to go for the best performance, if you can swing it. Also, as you mentioned, the height is adjustable. If you get the Tein SS with the EDFC, you can even adjust the dampening...on the fly.
But, I'm not a fan of any Tein products.
