Question How's this setup?

I'm planning on getting new rims this summer, and I came across theses really nice looking ones that would really look good on my car.

They are the Zyoxx ZX8 with Blue inserts. Specs are: 18 x 7.5 with a 42+ offset. Here's a picture:

I asked the shop owner what size tires would best fit these, and he said 235/40/18. My car isn't dropped, and I don't really have any plans on droping it anytime soon, especially with the type of roads here in NYC.

My question is, will I have absolutly any problems with those size tires?

Also, what kinds of tires could you recommend that are all season, but also have good handling, and good specs?

And one last thing, what would be the recommended tire pressure with this setup?

All your help and advice is greatly appreciated, Thanks

If "shop owner" refers to a tire shop owner, I would second guess anything he says. 235's are not spec'd to fit on a 7.5" wheel.

Selection is not as great, but you may want to look into 225/45. Rolling diameter a bit larger than stock, which will also help with filling up the fenders on stock height.

The quickest way to find out this information would have been to PM Doc's TL-S. Or you could have just looked up some of his old posts and you would have found his sig:

2002 ABP TL Type S

Current Mods: Rear Deck OEM Spoiler/Full OEM Skirt Kit
2 12" Cerwin Vega's (dvc) w/ a Rockford Fosgate P3200 amp (stock HU), Comptech Icebox, removed resonator, 3A Racing exhaust tips, 18x7.5 Zyoxx ZX8's with Blue Inserts, Falken ZE 512's (235/40/18), cut tabs on rear, Tein Luxury Master Edition Springs, Koni Yellows, 35% tint.

Near Future Mods: Integrated MP3 or IPod, powder coated calipers?

Far Future Mods: Headers, Door, Rear Window and Moonroof Visors, S/C?.

I'm leaning more toward 235/40/18, but what will be different if I go with 225/40/18?

I dont want really thick tires, I want them to be low profile...

Kumho SPT 235/40/18's are spec to fit on a 7.5" rim from the factory. Thats what i have on my 7.5" rims with no issues mounting or balancing them.

You want a tire that fits the rim the best and that wont rub. 225 would be the best setup with that offset (2 low in IMHO)

Also as to your first question as far as PSI, that would all depend on the tire you go with and what you prefer. Id visit the Tirerack and look at tirese there and compare and read reviews.

So just to 100% confirm this, I should go with 225/40/18, correct?

Now what kinds of All-Season tires would you guys recommend that come in that size and dont cost too much?

You'll rub with 235's and that offset. I ran 225/40/18 and rubbed on big dips with my old 18x7.5 with a 42 offset...

I wouldnt recommend a all season tire for 18s/custom rims. I would use the stock wheels in winter time with all season tires. I would look for a summer tire.

Like i said, check out tire rack. Enter in the info and it will come up with the search results of tires in what your looking for

i just read this after talking to you yesterday. i didnt realize you were getting fancy rims like that. dude just keep those banged up wheels and falkens. that finish on those new rims will get ruined with the nyc winters + potholes death. like fysttms said, get summer rubber. the long term $$$ will make sense after 1 full year. esp since you already have the type s wheels with 50% life on them. get your car aligned and rotated. you need it bad.
