How low is to low?

I was woundering this because Im dropped about 2.4 inches in the front and about 1.8-2 inchen in the back. Would this be bad for my axles and u-joints? Should I even worrie about anything bad happening? I do drive my car pretty hard. Im sure this question would also help other members who want to go low and wounder that same thing.

Personally I don't want to go more than 2.0 front and 1.8 rear.

if your dropped on springs, it will always be uneven no matter what. if you're on coilsovers, then you can get it to be pretty close all around. personally i don't like the look of the front being much lower in the front - and vise versa. i don't think it will do anything seriously bad to your car - just that it looks funny.

If your referring to the wheel wells being at different heights thats not the car being uneven. They are cut at a different height. Having them even would make your car uneven.

So there will be no extra wear and tear on the axles and joints from being lowered?

Of course there would be! All the suspension components were designed to work together in a certain range. By compressing that range with springs/coilovers you're asking the other components (bushings, ball joints, axles, control arms, trailing arms, etc.) to work harder, flex in positions they weren't designed for, etc.

It depends on your roll center, suspension stroke, and how hard you actually drive. Normally, if you lower the car with just springs, 90% of the time, your shocks are bottoming out because the suspension stroke just got shorter by your lowering distance.. with that said, you might end up screwing up your roll center, which puts a lot more stress on bushings and the such..

Depending on how hard you corner, let's just say that you are actually bottoming out the strut at full compression. During that full compression, you could be out of the range that the CV joint will work properly and among other things that are being torqued out of its range.

This can also happen in a coilover system as well, and the likeliness of happening can be just as bad because it depends on who installed it and knowing how to set it up.

Will you actually run into any problems for the time you own it? Maybe not...

Does dropping the car too low affect the CV joints? For a while now my CV joints have had a small "slit" on the bottom of the black rubber piece. So all the grease from inside has eventually spilled out onto the inside of my rims. I don't know if the "slits" were caused from dropping the car or if they were just ready to be replaced anyway.

^Yes, I'd think those would be the first to go.
I had a lower one replaced a few months ago when I was running springs + oem shocks.

Dude... Honestly... The only thing I worry about is hitting my front end on slants... My car isn't even lowered !!

but I have a front skirt/lip kit installed that makes it lower... so

I want to fill some of the gap myself, but I don't want my front bumper to lower at all.. I actually want to raise it an inch or so.... so no scraping on an incline ! because that costs $$$ to fix !

you wont crack your bumper unless you seriously pound on it. The polyeurethane will flex enough that if anything, you'll end up with a few scratches.

More than a few actually. I'm not even lowered and my whole front end is scratched to hell/paint peeling because of some huge dips between the road and sidewalk/parking lot in my area.

Just have to know your roads in your city. If I go down a road with dips and potholes, I don't take that road again. Same goes to steep inclined driveways.
