I own a 2001 TL and I just purchased SUMITOMO HTR H4 tires (215/60/16) from Sears for my stock 16x6.5'' rims. Before I bough them I wasn't aware that these tires have a label above the tire size in small words "DO NOT MOUNT ON 16x6.5 RIMS". I already bought the tires, I also didn't know my stock wheel width until after I bought the tires and obviously they didn't check and tell me anything about it. Does anyone know about this? I like the tires but would it cause problems on these rims? What would you guys do?

You will be fine. I ran that tire in a 225/50 which stated the same thing with no issues.

Also just to let you know that size will be slightly larger overall dia than stock which will throw the speedo off ever so slightly
