Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdge tires ?

I searched the forum for anyone's experience with these tires, but no one has written much about them. They have good reviews at tirerack.com, but does anyone actually have Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdge tires right now that can give me some feedback? Goodyear is marketing these tires as a performance touring tire, not a high performance or an ultra high performance tire. I wonder how they compare to our OEM Michelins. I currently have the Michelin MXV4 S8s, which is the the updated version from our OEM MXV4s, and they have pretty good wet and snow traction, but they squeal a lot with dry cornering. Not to mention they are $$$.

Well, I just bought a set of these tires in 225/50/17 to put on my new set of CL-S rims. I'll let everyone know how they are.

I had the regular goodyear eagles on my stockies and they sucked. They wore fast, and got really noisy. I hope yours are better.

Yeah I've read bad things about those. But these have nothing but great reviews on tirerack, we'll see what happens.

I just got these mounted, and my initial review is that A) they look good, B) they ride firmer than the OEM wheels, C) they have greatly improved my handling. I will try to give a more detailed review in a few hundred miles.

Well, I have over 1,000 miles on these tires in 3 weeks (a trip to D.C. from CT, a trip to the Ron Jon meet from CT, plus driving here and there), and my current feelings haven't changed much from my initial review. It's a great tire with great grip in dry and wet with very little noise. The ride is firm, but that is magnified by my drop (Eibachs). One small negative is that one side of the tread has a groove that is straight running all the way around the tire, and if there are any grooves in the road that will fit into this part of the tire tread, the tire will try to follow that path, just like the wheels on a train. But it's something I can live with.

jayunsplanet had them on his stock TL-P rims for only a short while before he got new rims. But he liked them while he had them.

Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdge tires

Does anyone have the Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdge tires on their 2004+ TL? I have gone through 2 sets of the OEM Bridgestones and don't want to put them on again. They were terrible in the rain/snow and wore very poorly.

I have always had good results from Michelins, but they are very expensive for this car. I can get the Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdge tires for $120/ea installed.

Help, quick!

Hi TLworx,

This is the second generation TL section. You may get better responses posting your question in the Third Generation TL section (because yours is a 3rd Gen).

That's a great price. TireRack quotes their price as $120 per tire (P235/45HR17) before shipping.

That was your total price including installation? Where did you purchase them? I was thinking of having TireRack ship them to one of their registered installers, but after installation, my total price would be more like $160 per tire (before the $80 rebate if I use my Goodyear Credit Card).
