EDFC error... "EA"??

Anybody had this problem before?

Earlier today, I started up my car and drove off.

A few seconds later, the EDFC unit beeped 3 times, and it was flashing all 3 preset buttons. None of the buttons works, except for the power button.

It's displaying 16 for rear, and "EA" for front. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

I shot off an E-mail to Tein USA. Hopefully they'll shine some light on this. All connectors are fastened securely, so it's not that.

Anybody experience this problem before?

http://www.tein.com/edfc.html -- use your browser's "find" feature:

6. Self-checking/warning function
In the case where the EDFC does not function correctly (due to an overcurrent or detached wires, etc.), all three memory buttons will blink red with an alarm sound and an error indication displayed, and the driver can confirm the position of the malfunctioning motor on the screen.

Yeah, that was my first stop, of course. But it doesn't say what "EA" stands for.

That's what I was asking about.

Based upon the description off the Tein website ... maybe check out the motors for each front perch and one of them is marked "EA" or just "A"? I think the motor has failed self-test...

Yeah, it seems like the front right motor has stopped responding. I'll need to troubleshoot when I have time this weekend.

I wasn't even doing anything with it when it failed. Weird. I guess it was just its time to go.

After spending a couple of hours troubleshooting it, frustration took over and I E-mailed Tein again.

They said I could send it in for inspection at no cost, provided that I pay for shipping both ways.

Apparently it was the actual controller unit that failed, not any of the servos. After a brief conversation with the engineer, they said they would cover it under warranty even though warranty had already expired!!!!!! So I'm getting a brand new EDFC control unit at no charge. :woohoo:

Tein is one of the best aftermarket parts companies out there, I tell ya. They always E-mail me back right away, and they are courteous. AAAA+++++
