Dropping an 03 TL, Suggestions/Input Please
H&R Sports Springs w. Tokico HP Shocks- VS. Coilovers
What are the major differences in Driveablity between these setups?
Do Coilovers have a stiffer feel than the H&R Springs and Tokico Shocks Setup?
What Brand of Lower Price Range Coilovers do you recommend?
P.S. I have regretably replaced my OEM kit with a Sarona Kit, which makes the TL appear lowered because of the design. Even without a drop i am bottoming out since the kit rides so low. I am looking to find a suspension setup that is stiff enough to keep the kit from scraping, and efficient enough to transfer power to the wheels. Although comfort level of suspension setup is important, I am willing to compromise comfort for performance.
Any suggestions/input is appreciated. Thank you in Advance

I chose the Tein SS coilovers because of the ability to adjust the height on the fly (although alignment is necessary after you adjust it) and dampening. Springs and shocks wree not an option for me because I wanted a custom drop. You can adjust the SS to as soft or stiff as you want in any combination front / rear or side / side. Unfortunately I cannot compare this set-up to anything else you mentioned.
Where can I buy a set of Tein SS Coilovers for cheap? Used? How do they compare with the K-Sport Coilovers? or any other Coilovers? Are your Tein Coilovers stiffer than a H&R Sport Spring and Shock setup?
How are the APexi Coilovers? I saw a set for $200? Is this cuz they're sh*t?
Also, I have 2004 OEM TL Rims on my 03- with 235/45/17 Tires
As of right now, I have minimal rubbing issues in the rear when making hard turns and goin over bumps.. Not too bad, nothing to worry about... However... My concern is, Will the rubbing worsen after dropping the car? If so, what is your opinion as to what I should do?
Does anyone have specs for the OEM rims, both for the 04 and the 03-P?
I weighed the 04 rims with the tires mounted, they were 44 lbs.
The 03 rims with the tires mounted, were 39 lbs.
With this 5 lb difference, will parts of my suspension wear prematurely?
The car drives very differently, more control, but at the same time less control?
Does anyone know the actual effects of this variation in sprung to unsprung weight ratios?
It seems as if my RPMS stay in the higher range...
It seems as if there is More rolling resistance because of the wider tires?
Is torque increased since the "equation" for torque is Force times Distance?
It seems as if there is Heavier Parasitic Drag from the Heavier Wheel/Tire Combo?
What do you gain from havin 8 inch wide rims instead of the stock 6.5 inch?
What do you lose?
What do you gain (if there is any gain) from havin a heavier wheel/tire combo?
Does anybody know the actual engineering equations to back up their answers?
Does anyone have any alternative Tire sizes on 3G Rims other than 235/45/17? For Example, 225/45/17? 225/50/17? Would 215/50/27 be too "skinny" for the wide 8.5" rims?
Haha, I realize that I'm askin a lot.. But all this sh*t been makin my mind go crazy tryna figure out what is what.
Thanks to everyone

The car drives very differently, more control, but at the same time less control?wider tire will give u more control on dry pavment, and with it being a 45 (stiffer side wall) instead of a 50 that comes stock on our cars.
What do you gain from havin 8 inch wide rims instead of the stock 6.5 inch?more tracktion looks better too
What do you lose?less traction in snow.

Does anybody know the actual engineering equations to back up their answers?been discussed before on this forum. just do some simple searches.
