Can't find any solid info on these sizes

I'm looking at a set of 18x8 +40 OR 18x9.5 +40

I can't find any 2G TLs with this exact setup. I know I won't have a problem with the 18x8s, but I still would like some pics. I haven't found one 2G yet with 18x9.5 +40 wheels

Does anyone have ANY experience, visually or personally, with fitting 18x9.5 +40 on a 2G TL? I'm not doing 19" because I don't have a lip kit and don't plan on getting one.

willing to roll quarter panels and such?

also look for rondog's CL, the CL is basically the same wheelwell

also what tire size do you want to run?

Yeah, I figured the 9.5" would require that...that's one of the reasons I was trying to find pics, to see how much would have to be rolled and/or pulled.

Im thinking 235/40/18, based on my research.

even the 8 inch wheels (with that size tire) will require a slight roll with that offest (it will clear, but with basically nothing to spare though

Well hell, if I'm going to have to roll the fenders anyway, sounds like I might as well stick with 18x8. And by that, I mean it sounds like they'll be sticking out far enough to be damn near flush, but the tires will cause me to have to roll the fenders.

I'm not a fan of my wheels tucking too much, I'd prefer flush...but I'm also not a fan of super stretched tires either.

they where not flush, but the easiest way to visulize with when i had my a-specs with 245's on them, is that the outside of the tire was basically right where the lip goes all the way in, is where the tire sat (and no i did not have to roll it, but felt alot more comfortable, knowing that if something did get kicked up by the tire, it would be able to pass in between the body and the tire

hmm...ok. Maybe I'd just stick with 225/40 then.

Ok, also seems that 9.5" would require a major roll/pull if 235s on 18x8 leaves no room in the fender.

hmm...why do that with the same sizes all the way around?

I think I've decided on trying the 18x9.5" +40. I was looking at p.diddy's CL with 18x9 in the front and with a slight roll, it looks pretty good. I saw another member's TL with 18x8 +40 and it's a little sunken in for my liking.

18x9.5 + 40 will rub/hit the rear strut... You'd need at least 10mm spacers to clear the struts.

and a 225/40 or a 215/40 would fit.

Damn, really? Ugh...too much extra shit.

I really wish there was a wheel I liked that was 18x8.5 or 18x9 and NOT super expensive.

eh...this is just my DD. I'm not trying to win any shows/contests/street cred. I don't go to the track/autox/etc.

As long as the wheels aren't known for flaking, peeling, or breaking/bending easily, I'm good.

I'm running 18x8 +50mm with 225-45-18 tire and have rear fenders rolled and tabs cut. I only rub in the rear when I have 2 adults in the rear and the rub is very small. Mostly over large dips in the road. Hope this helps.

That gives me a better understanding of how they'd look..thanks man. Only thing I'm worried about is that my drop is lower than yours, so my camber would be a lot more at the top.

hmm thanks. I want to use 225/45 instead of 225/40 too, as I don't like the super skinny tire look.

I don't have any recent ones. It's just a TL-S on H&R Springs...nothing special lol

And I found this post: http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showp...5&postcount=56

He is/was on 18x9.5 +35 225/40/18, so I'm assuming (assuming 18x9.5 +40 would hit or rub the struts) that I could just get a 5mm spacer to compensate.

same on mine, so very close to the same drop, and as said for mine 245/40-18 with a 45 offset fit on mine without too many issues (and the rolling was only necessary for piece of mind; but then again the tabs had to be trimmed/rubbed, but thats only plastic though, so no worries there

and as far as going with a higher offset and using a spacer to decrease the offset, is that if YOU do get the measurements a little wrong, there is some room you can play with for getting the correct fit (and you can also just get shims/spacer in even smaller offsets too, in like 1mm increments)

Ah, ok. Good points. So you had +45 and 245/40..sounds like +40 and 235/40 shouldn't be a problem

they are 3g A-specs, with Bridgestone potenza RE960's

and i bet you could even put a 35 offset on there, if you did indeed roll the quarters/fenders, with as said i rolled mine mainly for piece-of-mind more then anything (and i still had room to go inwards also...)

so if i had the 8.5 a-specs i probably could have gotten a 255 on there even

Cool, cool.

swllen_cu's opinion is that the 18x9.5 +40 and 5mm spacers (I found some 3mm spacers) in case it doesn't clear the struts won't look that good since I'm not 2+ inches/slammed.

I think I'm going to go for it anyway though 235/40/18 (should I go with 45 sidewall?) and 18x9.5" et40 (+3mm spacers)

40 sidewall will give it the same overall diameter as stock (withen a 1/10 of an inch, which tire wear could easily vary), and the 45 sidewall will be too tall (it's like 8/10's of an inch taller then stock)

so i would stay just stick with the 40 aspect ratio

also with those spacers (and the wheel selected), make sure your wheel studs are long enough for the lugnut to FULLY engage the threads, and to actually have the stud poking through the nut a little with a couple of spare threads
basically don't want the wheel falling off due to not enough thread engagement of the lug nut/stud

yeah, that's what I gathered via a few online offset/tire calculators.

235/40 it is. Thanks man.
