Can't decide between 2 sizes...

So I'm not sure if I should go with 18x8+40 or 18x7.5+52. I also can't decide on tire size... Either 225/35-18 or 225/40-18.

Any help from the wheel & tire gods?

You shouldn't many people of the forums with 2nd Gen TL's are running that size with the +40 offset and are fine without any rubbing issues. I don't know about the +52 though, however if you do rub when you lower the car you can just roll your fenders and you should be just fine afterwards!

Thats poor information since many with higher offsets have had rubbing issues as well.

Sorry I ment the other way around, since +50 would be closer to the OEM offest of +55...

The 40 series tire will give you better rim protection and a slightly better ride than the 35 series will, I will have to check but I think the 35 series will throw off the speedo more than the 40 series will, but let me find a site and check it out for ya.

stick with 40 series...
if you want meat on tires..

then 18x7.5 would be 225/40/18

and 18x8 would be 235/40/18..

if you want slight stretch..

18x7.5 would be 215/40/18

18x8 be 225/40/18

i think.... @_@

i figured it had something to do with protecting the rims, i just kinda like how the 35 series are extremely low profile. heres a site: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html. I'm running 205/60-16 right now so the "% error" is only 2.3, which is pretty close.

would i have more rubbing issues with the 235/40 vs. the 225/40? I'm most likely going with the 18x8. and which would look better in you opinion?

you wanna go with my opinion????

i'd get 215/40/18 and use 10mm spacer to make it 18x8 +30 all around
and then roll the rear flat and shave tabs and roll front...

thats what i'd do... but thats me...

^ not really....

just buy tires and 10mm spacers...

$40-$60 to roll all four corners and shaving the rear bumpers tabs...

thats free as long as you have a dremel...

Either 225-40-18 or 235-40-18; 35 series is too short (unless it is a 255 or larger tire).

What do you mean by stretch ?

I was told to get 225/40/18 on my rims (18x8) instead of the 235/40/18 I have on right now. Will my rim stick out to much ?
