Question Best place to buy aftermarket rims?

I know there are many wheel enthusiasts out there... I personally have never purchased a set of rims... don't know shit about it at all except for the look I like...

I'm wondering if anyone knows of an affordable place to get nice rims used or something...

This is the best site I found for A-Spec Rims

Wheel Collision Center

For my Taffeta White TL I like this finish and rim

If I go with aftermarket rims... I like the look of these... I just want the soft light metal color/look because of tafetta white... Here are my favorite rims on the site I've seen so far : )

I like these alot, but I would want them to have a lighter center color to them

This ride is sick, but the chrome is a little too flashy for me I think... but they look nice!

These look pretty good, but just a little too spokey for me

I like wheels to look solid.. like 5 strong bars not too spokey... and be durable for everyday use the stock 3rd gen a spec are about as spokey as I would like... I also want wheels that I don't have to worry about... like if my woman or I hit a curb on accident it won't crack... I want them durable : )

so if anyone knows where to get the 3rd gen a-spec for a better price than the link at the top... or where I can get some used or new rims that match my taste for a good price (under $800 lol)... Lemmie know plz : )

I wouldn't go with any wheel that came stock on another car. It looks clean, but its not impressive. For the price, you can get custom wheels that look 100x better.

I like your wheels alot... do they come with that style in a finish to match good with a Taf White TL?

these look pretty sweet... What do people like 1 piece, 2 or 3 piece? I would think one solid piece would be the best, but I dunno

these are 18x7.5

most only go up to 8 for the width... I wonder how much more road dirt/tar I'll get on my car with a wider wheel than my stock 16x6's?

Not enough to notice.

Thanks about my wheels tho, and you could get them, but lemme warn you, you have to do some work to make them fit. (not to mention about $300 a piece w/o tires) They are 19x8 with a 40 offset. The offset is very low of these cars, so I rolled the fenders flat, and cut out a lot of plastic in addition to cutting tabs so they didn't rub. Thats why you really don't see these on 2g TLs. Being different comes with a price. Ill pay it.

I'm a little confused about what makes you have to do certain things... Is it like this?

If the wheels are 19 inches = rolling fender?
If the wheels are a certain width or offset = cutting tabs?

do some people do one or the other or do you generally have to do both to fit a larger wheel?

What is the biggest wheels + tires we can put on to fit without doing anything?
18x7.5 with 235/35/18? just a guess

Its the width and offset that make it that way. You could run 20s with the right width and offset and it could clear, but it would look stupid. For a 19, you could do a 19x8 with a 48ish offset and a 225/35/19 with no issues. I just like my wheels flush with the body.

Most cast wheels normally aren't available with very high offsets, thus many that end up going this route has no choice but to modify metal to make 'em fit. On the other hand, get a custom 2 or 3-piece wheel which can be made with a high offset and you'll be able to fit 8" widths with no problem.
Browse THIS THREAD which has tons of great info on fitment.

Question

ya I think because of shipping and the fact that I'm going broke lol... I should probably stick with something like Cragslist... Then figure out if they can fit my car...

Some people are selling 4 bolt patterns... they say it's universal... is that true for our cars?

and thank you for the does it fit thread... I read it through once, but my brain got scrambled along the way lol... I'll go through it again

18x8 with 45 offset, tires 225 - 40 will fit without rolling the fenders- may even clear the tab!-
run your finger on the rear fender from the top to the rear and you will find the tab where the lower panel connects- its plastic-

235 tires will get hit by the fender lip on bounces- just the top outer edge of the tire sidewall gets scraped- so you roll out the lip edge making the fender wider, or you roll the inner edge up into itself- depends on the situation

we have a specific size 5 lug pattern- not a universal bs anything
check the owner manual or the suggested rims threads for details-
tirerack wheelworks and similar sites for option of seeing rims displayed on your car color-
CL- its always buyer beware~
Azine Private Sales- often a score when someone is returning their car to stock, you grab their cool rims and tires at a great price.
My setup was $850 from another member- found them and hopped in the car to pickup!

And www.wheelsnext.com has a LOT of wheels, BUT. Don't always believe what they say fits. Ask for offset before you order to be sure.

Question

I'm thinking of putting these on... Whatcha think?

These come in two sizes... I don't know which one would be best for my suspension though. Either 18X7.5 5-114.3 48C or 18X8 5-114.3 45C

I also like this wheel 18X7.5 5-114.3 45C

the website says that I can fit 225/45/18's...

What size of wheel should I go with? the 8 or the 7.5 and what's the beefiest tire I could throw on... could I do a 235/45/18? or would I have to do the 18/8 size wheel for that? I want it to look nice, but I still want to be able to do a U turn lol

These aren't bad, but the first ones are nasty. 18x8 with a +45 would be better. Stick with a 225, you may have some rubbing with a 235.

you think I should stick with 18x8 and not go for any 18x7.5? Also, I thought 225 vs 235 would just be a wider tire... seems that it makes the wheel larger in diameter as well hmm

Keep in mind I'm staying stock and when I drop my car I'll be doing H&R OE's... .75 front/ .5 in the rear... I have a system with 2 amps/Navi/ box with two 10's in the trunk at all times. Right now I have 2 fingers in the rear and like 5 fingers in the front lol startin to sound freaky lolz (2 finger gap in the back on stock)

so I guess I'll go with 18x8's and a 225/45/18 tire... does this sound good?

I want the 45 so it will close some of the gap on the front : ) and ride a little softer because I'm used to 205/60/16's

please tell me if there's going to be shit all over the side of my car now lol... or will it be about the same as now? I hate that tar !

discounttiredirect.com if you don't have an America's Tire Company or Discount Tire Company near you. America/Discount Tire always had the best deals for me and can negotiate a little..their service after purchase is 2nd to none..dealing with them since 1992!

Word.

I always suggest buying somewhere local so if a tire ever gets punctured or wheel gets damaged etc, then you have somewhere you can go to.

Discount tire matches ANY internet pricing on tires and wheels. They were willing to go under their cost on a set of falken wheels for a buddy of mine just to match an internet price.

Love their service, have bought my last two sets of tires from them and no compaints

yeah I like them too... I like NTB as well...

I think i'm going to put these on my car...

I think they are very similar to what I have and a good price for me... They kind of look like my stock wheels on steroids

I'll post pics in a week or so when I'm done with all of this...

I know for sure I'm going to go with H&R OE front springs... to lower .75 but for the rear with a system of like 150lbs in the trunk at all times... I don't know if I should lower it .5 with the H&R OE rear springs... and then there's spring rate involved...

So I might get an OEM replacement height to keep it at the 2.5 finger width it's at right now... and just have the front lowered .75 to balance it out more....

or I'll just throw the H&R rear springs to match and since the spring rate is stronger it might stay the same anyways... I dunno

lol you went through more rims in this one thread than I can count lol. The last rims would look better imo if the spokes went out to the lip.

ya I'm one indecisive mo fo sometimes... I looked through hundreds like 5 times over lol in my price range lol which isn't all that much...

for the price, I don't think I can do better.... the other 7 spoke (sport edition or asa jh7's)one's I was considering from ntb... started to look like the stock Infinity g35 wheels... and if I'm going aftermarket, I want the wheel to look aftermarket kinda wild... not too conservative, but not over the top bling either.... g games 99b's are nice : ) kinda plain, but nice...

If I had more money to spend I would go with that brilliant finish from enkie or something from the wheel connection... some italian shit lol... Instead I'm going to put the rest of the money I can scrounge up into the suspension and timing belt job...

That's exactly what I said before I bought my rims. Now I want to sell them because they look like 17s because the spokes curve in before the lip (it was meant to give it a big lip) , but it's not worth having a wheel that is 18'" and looks like it's 17".

True, but the spokes on the wheels he showed dont have NEARLY the curve yours do. I think they would look good.

^ I 3rd that thought FirePR2002. I was looking at the 19" Liquid metal in chrome...I haven't seen many LGM with Chrome wheels, or wheels PERIOD. Whats up wit that?

Anymore good wheel sites fellas??? I'm trying to play the right wheels in a few weeks.
