Adjusting Tein SS Coilover Height

I want to raise the rear up a bit but I don't know how. Is there a DIY for this?

Very simple.

Here's what you do.

Loosen the lug nuts on the rear tires, jack up the rear of the car, and take off the wheels.

Once you do that, you will have access to the strut assemblies.

At the bottom of the spring, you will see two perches with square slots in them. These turn opposite ways to lock or unlock. You should have the two tools that came with your Tein SS kit to lock and unlock these.

What you do is secure the tools into the slots, and turn the bottom perch clockwise (as you look down the strut assembly), and the top perch counter-clockwise. It might be a little hard depending on how long it's been locked that way, but it'll unlock. It will help a bit to jack up the car to a point where the springs has no load on them and sitting loose.

Then you spin the top perch to the desired height, and bring up the bottom perch. Do the opposite of what we did to unlock the perches with the tools and lock them in tight.

That's it. I'll most likely be working on my camber kit later today, so if you want to see pictures, then I could take some and show you what I mean.

If you can, please take pics. I have seen others adjust the perches but have never done them myself. I would be nice to have pics for a guide.

You don't have 2 take the tires off. Just jack it up till the wheel is off the ground. Twist the top perch to the right and the bottom perch to the left twisting away from each other. Make sure you clean all the dirt off the threads as much as you can.

My car is pretty low. It's ideal, actually, but I'm starting to notice some camber issue and I don't want to spend more money (on camber kits), when I could just raise it up a few mm.

i saw your pic before.....its not that low.....is still 1.5 or 2 fingers gap.....

Mine is even lower than yours.....mine is no finger gap and cover the tires a little...


BTW....i didn't get any camber kit also....don't want to spend money on that....haha

Make it lower and its look more cool man....

It's snowing and freakin' cold out, so we're not doing the camber kit today. Maybe over the weekend.

I recommended taking the wheels off for easier access. It takes a minute to take them off, and makes it much easier.

It's about 2 finger in the front, 1 finger in the back..... (lol, that sounded interesting ). Which should be the ideal height for any stock TLs. My parent didn't even notice that it was lowered. I might have dropped it over 2 inches which would require a camber kit. And I'm seeing some slight cambering of the rear wheels
NAh, the slam look would be a no go in Washington. It doesn't look that great anyway, IMO. Plus, daily driveability would suffer considerably. Beside if I keep it at this height, I might end up getting quicker tire wear.

just put mine in yesterday and am wondering what setting people are using. we didnt really measure hehe so i just eyeballed it and set it at what seemed ok. luckily it seems to be pretty even and the drop leaves me with about 1 finger (with some play front and back except rear drivers side, hopefully its the gas or ... i donno any other ideas?) all around.

just hoping for some ideas as for the drivers side rear 'dip' (about 1/2") settle time is what im guessing...

and

ideas on how high other peopel with basic/ss are sitting (threads up or total inches up from the bottom/green).

How can you tell if all four corners are lowered evenly? If there not is there a way you can measure the sleeves to drop evenly on all 4?

I have my Tein SS set at the 8th thread from the bottom in the front and 10th thread from the bottom in the rear. I have a heavy system in the trunk, and the stance is even now with a one-finger gap all around.

You need to find an even surface to see if your car is lowered evenly all around. If you are on the anal side, then I would recommend getting one of those sticks with equalizers or whatever built in. I'm talking about glass tubes filled with liquid with a bubble to check for even surface. I can't remember the name of that tool right now. Anyway, you could measure the surface and make sure it's pretty even, which will give you a good foundation to check the car's stance on. The proper way to measure is to take a ruler and measure from the center of the center cap to the bottom edge of the fender.

I just installed the camber kit two nights ago after a long delay, and now it seems to be fine. I used an L-shaped 90-degree metal ruler to guesstimate the camber, and it is well within the adjustable range. My tires are shot, and I'm ordering new one today, and I'll get an alignment when I get the tires mounted and balanced next week.
