235-45/17s on stock TL-S Rims?

I will need to replace the stock Michelin 215-50/17s pretty soon. I am toying with replacing them with 235-45/17 Yokohama ES100s. Any issues associated with going that big on our 6.5 inch rims? Thanks

225/45 wil be safer. 235 is too wide.

You should be fine of your are at stock height. If you have a 2 inch or more drop you might have some rubbing issues in back and may need to have the fenders rolled.

I have 235/45/17 on 2001 CLS rims which is 0.5 inches wider. Many have done it with 17x7 inch rims...but I haven't seen too many (maybe 1 or 2) who's put on 235/45/17 on 17x6.5 inch wheels.

My vote would be that it's too wide. the CLS wheel is already pushing it.

I have 225/50 17 on my OEM TL-S rims.

I also debated on the 235/45 17, but after talking with Tirerack and looking at the manufacturers web sites none recommended putting it on a 6.5 inch rim.

Better safe than sorry so that is why I went with the 225/50 17

I think you will experience speedometer and height issues. I think the tires sizing should be 215-50/17s, 225-45/17s, 235-40/17s.

I have 235/45/17 on my stock tl-s rim. It doesnt bulge bad at all. I love the new set up. it actually sits as high as the 50's did due to the stiffer sidewall. also takes bumps better too I guess due to the wider print able to absorb more. also lost the ability to get a second gear scratch too. Guess I need more HP now too.

WOw....that combo is a little small.

TLP = 205/60-16 = 785 revs/mile
TLS = 215/50-17 = 792 revs/mile (means TLS wheel is spinning 0.9% faster than TLP wheels)

235/45-17 = 796 revs/mile ( 1.4% TOO FAST )
245/40-17 = 816 revs/mile ( 3.8% TOO FAST )

That means if you are travelling @ 100mph (with the 245/40-17) you're really only going 96. I guess it doesn't matter now, but you'll have a very inaccurate odometer in the long run.
