2000 OEM tire help
I know... I should ditch the original 16" wheels but after two sets of Michelin MXV4 and 65k miles I am asking for advice from those who have kept their 16's and what tire they used.... be it 205/60/16 or maybe wider. Thanks for the help

I should have merged this with the other thread but I'm going to copy & paste what was written in the other thread. (Keeping this open for a few days since you probably wouldn't guess at looking at the other thread...)

Size ... 205/60/16 is OEM size. However, 225/55/16 will fit and is close to OEM spec (within 0.24%).
Choice of tire that are recommended:
205/60/16
Bridgestone Potenza G009
Sumitomo HTR+
Fuzion HRi
Yokohama H4S
Yokohama V4S -- probably better of the two
225/55/16
Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS
Avon Tech M550 A/S
Continental ContiExtremeContact
Kumho ECSTA ASX
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
Pirelli PZero Nero M&S
Bridgestone Potenza G 009
Fuzion HRi
Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S
Yokohama AVID V4S
Bridgestone Turanza LS-V
This is a list I generated from Tire Rack. Choose of these based upon your driving habits, budget, and climate (I assume NC rarely sees snow/ice so I assumed you wanted all-season tires for 'just in case'.
The 'mushroom' is caused by overinflation (I think that is what you are referring to). Do not follow the sticker on the door because that is only for the OEM tire (Michelin whatever). You should contact the tire manufacturer to see what the optimal pressure is for the particular application. However, a general rule of thumb is 80% of what the maximum pressure states on the tire's sidewall.
Hope this list gets you on your way. Tell us what you decide. (The feedback from the tirerack.com site provides a wealth of information).

sorry no pics, but they bulge out a little on the rim, not bad though. They are almost exactly the small size diameter as the stock 205/60/16's and they look bad ass from the back of the car, nice thick tires that grip like a mother!! No more skinny 205's!
