Angry Wrecker wrecked my TL!!! I need help

What do you say guys, is this repairable or totaled? I'm waiting to hear from the isurance company and if they say totaled, I'm wondering what you think would be a fair offer. Specs: 02 TL w/ 65k miles. Interior is perfect and couple of dings on outside, but otherwise in great shape.

For those who are curious, the car was on it's way to the Acura dealership on top of a flat bed wrecker and the guy cut a corner too fast and ran my car into the covered awning AT THE ACURA DEALERSHIP! My service guy called me and said, "I'm sorry man, but you're not going to believe this; your car just got here but there was an accident..."

Please give me your best guess as to if it's repairable or if not, what I should expect as a good settlement price. This sucks, I lost my car and even if they repair it, it will never be the same.
Thanks

The tow company's insurance is the one I'm waiting on...their paying for it one way or the other. The dealership can't do anything right now...they didn't have posession of the car.

Ok, so far you all think it's totalled...I'm glad to hear that. Any tips on how to haggle with the adjuster if necessary?

man that sucks. i dont think i would want my car back but it does look repairable.

my boss had a tree fall on his brand new saab and it pretty much flattened it into a U. he said insurance paid for the repairs and considered it not total. outrageous.

can't really see but is it basically just the roof that's crushed? if so they can just weld in a new roof :S and i highly doubt that's going to cost more than the bluebook price of the car

Sorry to say but that car is dead. The structual integrity would be severely compromised if it was rebuilt.

Looking at the car I'd say I'm glad you are still alive. The car is totaled man...I'd just get a new one.

That's true, I wonder if the insurance company would just pay to have it converted to a convertible? ha ha

LOL he wasn't in the car, it was on a tow truck.

Sorry to see that, that really sucks. That tow truck driver is a fucking idiot. If that happened to my TL I would LOSE IT.

Im sorry but i really hate it when........ People say that shit! I could fix that in my garage and you would NEVER know. If a good/certified repair shop were to do the work it would be just as good as the day it was bought.

That said id push for it to be totaled and see if the dealer and the tow truck co can work out a nice deal on a new/newer car
I dont see it being totaled but you never know with insurance companies. There isnt much work in removing the roof panel and placing a new one in. You can get a complete new panel for 900. Much less if used.

Yeah, I'm glad I'm able too as well. It sucks, but it was an accident after all. I'm just glad I wasn't involved in a wreck... could have been more serious. If your car is going to get totalled, it's probably best to not be involved in the accident!

I didnt say that the car cant be fixed, but its an accident car after that and try selling that. When ppl hear its an accident car they get scared that it may still be messed up, cuz they dont care about details. Or they will offer you a rediculous low amont of money for it.

Ouch! Let us know what comes of this. I'm sure it can easily be repaired but I would be scared about the structural integrity myself because suppose you have an accident in the future and you rollover... I would be scared that it wouldn't hold up as well as it would have originally. Best of luck with this whole situation. Tow truck drivers really don't care what their hauling. I had my car towed from a previous accident and they ended up severely damaging 2 rims because of their carelessness...not to mention someone from the company ended up still my wifes atm card (didn't realize it was left in the car until the next day, by then it was too late) and they spent close to $1500 in less than 24 hrs.

I guess its just me and my background in autobody knowing that it wouldnt bother me in the least. Especially if a good place did the work. If it was done right one should never know and it should be the exact same as new. (and to me all this totaling out of cars is just bad, there is no reason half of the ones i see should be.)
I just wish people were better educated that a car that was in a accident or been repaired doesnt make it a bad car.

I'll let everyone know as soon as I hear from the adjuster, which is suppose to be today or tomorrow. Thanks for all the help so far from everbody. If anybody has any idea what to expect from a settlement in the event that they say it's totalled, I would really appreciate that as well. I don't want the insurance company to short change me...

Insurance company got back with me and said the adjusters are leaning toward calling it a total loss, but won't know for sure until early next week. This seems like it's taking quite a long time... isn't it in the interest of the insurance company to settle quickly? Each day they wait, the more research I am doing to make sure I get a fair deal!

No it is not - they will take as long as they want because they have the upper hand in the situation (or so they believe). They will take even longer in an attempt to wear you down and get you to agree to the first number they propose. Do what you're doing - research. Look at any and all car listing services online to get an idea of what cars are going for, autotrader.com, dealer websites that are located near you. I have negotiated with insurance companies on MANY occasions and could help you through the process if you want. PM me on specific questions you have and I'll steer you in the right direction if I can.

Insurance company says that the repairs are estimated at $9,400, so they are going to total the car. They will make an offer to me by tomorrow morning. What do you guys think, 13k possible?

Talking

The final verdict is in... the insurance company offered 13.4k including TT&L but I was able to convince them to raise it to a little over 14k with proof of current market conditions (cars for sale in my area) along with NADA, EDMUNDS, and KBB values.

I feel that is pretty darn good considering I paid 16k for the car 2 years ago. For those curiuos, or those that may find themselves in a similar position in the future, I was dealing with Zurich Insurance...not my provider, the wrecking company's obviously. They were pretty professional and I'm quite sattisfied so far.
